If I had an MVP vote ...
... I'd have taken Ben Roethlisberger over Santonio Holmes.
Not taking anything away from Holmes' 9-catch, 131-yard, 1 touchdown performance. He was brilliant, no question.
I just thought Roethlisberger was more of a factor from the start of the game to the end. And while Holmes did an unbelievable job getting both feet (toes, actually) in bounds on the game-winning catch, the fact that Roethlisberger threw the ball in a spot where only Holmes could catch it - and not any of the three defenders around him - was as much a part of that play as Holmes' tip-toe dance to stay in bounds.

Mr. G, I respectfully disagree. Holmes was the go-to guy when it counted most and the catch in the end zone is on the David Tyree level.
Yes, Roethlisberger got it to him, and Holmes nearly blew the game with his drop on the play before the TD. But he was the proper choice in my mind.
Harrison could have won it too. After all, his play changed the outcome of the game. But other than the interception, he didn't do much (four tackles, no sacks, one unnecessary roughness penalty).
Holmes wasn't a bad choice, it just seems that Big Ben would have been better. I'm an old o-lineman, so it pains me to say it, but the QB is the MVP in 99.9% of the drives like the two we saw in XL3.
Boy, give a guy a HOF vote, and all of a sudden...
You're right, LTmLT. I'll shut up now.
(I still say Big Ben deserved it, even if Mad Dog - he of the Freakishly Annotated Posts - disagrees.)
Game MVP?
Whoever came up with the idea for instant replay and further review.
That concept alone makes millions of dollars for NBC.
Especially yesterday.....Does anyone keep stats on that?
Most Booth reviews in a Super Bowl?
(And if you're gonna have that albatross...how does the NFL not justify going to a review of that last "fumble" by Warner?)
If the procedure was put in place to "remove all doubt" and to "get it right", they have GOT to at least go to it on plays like that.
(Makes one think maybe NBC might have had enough and didn't want to have to Heidi into their subsequent programming?)
Just my opinion....from two time zones away.
