Jay Cutler thinks a trade would be best
So he says to ESPN's Chris Mortensen in an interview last night.
Oy.
The Broncos continue to insist that they have no intention of trading Cutler, but this soap opera is only intensifying, and it appears a parting of the ways might be inevitable.
The Buccaneers and Lions were in heavy pursuit of Cutler when the Matt Cassel trade talks were percolating during the first weekend of free agency. Cassel, the former Patriots who worked under offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, now the Broncos' head coach, wound up being dealt to the Chiefs.
The Jets have reportedly expressed no interest in Cutler, but you know how those things change. That said, I wonder if Cutler's thin skin during this entire process rubs no-nonsense head coach Rex Ryan the wrong way. I mean, if Cutler can't understand the fact that trade talks happen all the time, then how's he going to react to other uncertain situations?
Sure, you want to know your place as a football player. Or any other employee, for that matter. But if Cutler is going to throw a hissy fit and demand a trade - rather than face the challenge and see if he can work things out and play for a promising young offensive-oriented coach, then do you really want this quarterback on your team?
Just askin'.

He seems like a huge baby. However, that being said I would love to see him on the Jets. A young QB with a great arm, instead of an old QB with a failing arm.

Personally, I hope they Jets stay away from Cutler. He's overrated and a Prima Donna. Under Rex Ryan, the Jets will be a Defense first team, and Cutler wouldn't like that. Plus, the cost of obtaining him will be high, perhaps our #1 pick and Kellen Clemens at a minimum.
Me personally, i'd do it in a second, a huggeeeeee upgrade ova clemens and ratliff, has the best arm in the nfl, perfect for the winds at the meadowlands, i'd give our first rnd pick and clemens for cutler, and draft a receiver in the second round, receivers are deep in this draft. We can do that, and still re-sign Clowney who has real big play ability. If we get Cutler, w/ our defense and running game, we can def. compete w/ any team in the nfl, if not we'll have trouble getting out our own division this yr, w/ TO in buffalo, brady back in new england, and pennington in miami......LETS GO J-E-T-S AND GO AND GET CUTLER AT ANY COST.
First I would never take Cutler. Great arm, but too many INT's and too thin skinned for NY and a no nonsense headcoach. Consider a three way deal with Cleveland. Jets get Anderson, Browns get Cutler, Denver gets #1 pick and Clemens.

I just took a huge dump.
I think this debate is somewhat futile. For the record, I would love to see Jay Cutler quarterback the Jets, but I just don’t see how we get there. I think the Jets are doing what any sane team would do if there’s a chance to get a 25 yr. old Pro Bowl quarterback, they’re sitting up and paying attention. But the reality is we’re not going to have to give what it would take to get him. Denver is going to need someone to play QB if they trade Cutler and Denver isn’t going to give away a Cutler for either a KC or BR or anyone else who’s not game proven good. Draft picks? We’d have to give one of our young QB’s AND high rounds in the draft this year and next. Not going to happen. And finally, the competition. There are many teams out there who would love Cutler to be under center for them and willing to part with more value than the Jets could muster. Take Mangina’s team for instance. They could package Derek Anderson or Brady Quinn plus draft picks to Denver. So, while the Jets would be foolish not to have a hat in the ring, I wouldn’t loose any sleep over this debate. Cutler isn’t coming to the Jets. And that isn’t so bad. Our core team is strong and the draft will strengthen it further. Jets will be damn good this year with or without Cutler. Go Jets!!
Whenever my kids said or did something inappropriate, I always tried to avoid laughing at them so that they wouldn't be encouraged to do or say the same thing again. I am trying to use that lesson with the news the detective shared.
Meanwhile, Cutler reminds me of Ryan Leaf.
i agree 100% with Charlie Chilkoot about Cutler.

I agree Charlie Chilkoot. The issue is the Cutler is now a malcontent and wants out. His value immediately is lowered. Even if the Jets have to give up a #1, Clemens and possibly even a 3rd or 4th rounder, so be it. Let me be clear, I DO NOT want Cutler, I would take a Quinn or Anderson though. The Browns would love to add Cutler, the Jets could add Quinn/Anderson, and then Broncos could take Clemens, a #1 and possibly a 3/4 rounder from either the Jets or Browns if negotiations hit a snag and you have to throw it in. This way the Broncos if need be can draft "their own" QB, or take on Clemens for the year.
AM I THE ONLY ONE EXCITED ABOUT RATLIFF?
WE HAD ENOUGH OF THE SOAP OPERA LAST YEAR WITH FAVRE!
I'm going to havta turn into a jets fan! Oh my!
John Elway demanded a trade out of Baltimore TO the Broncos.
Now Cutler wants out of Denver? Huh?

Cutler will fit right in with the Jets. A crybaby who has never won.
As long as the Jets don't have to give up too much, I like the move. Cutler "Cut-lered" up the Jets in the Meadowlands (in bad weather), and is actually a QB entering the prime of his career. Either way, the Jets need much more depth at WR and I want upgrades at DE too.
If the Jets pass this up they really are as dumb of an organization that everyone says they are.
I have a bunch of questions for you.
Ok, lets get a grip. Jay is a good QB on a bad team. Rivers should have gone to the pro bowl, not Cutler. Jay is in no way a Ryan Leaf though. Leaf sucked on and off the field. Denver tried to trade to get a lesser QB, which was dumb. I am not a Cutler fan, but lets give him credit where credit is due. He is the second best QB in the AFC West. Denver sucks, not Jay. With SD signing LT, none of this matters. The Chargers own the West. Denver, KC, and Choakland will continue to suck,
where did you learn to write? I mean .... don't you have to take a few english classes before you can be published? That said, try taking a writing class now; it's not too late. And don't throw a hissy fit. just sayin
Well from what I understand Cutler is ticked off with the Broncos in general and McDaniels in particular because when McD was hired, he told Cutler that her was his guy and that they had to trust each other, all while trying to land Matt Cassel. I don't think anyone faults him for that; he's the head coach, he has to put together what he feels is the best team. But if what Cutler said is true, then McD only has himself to blame for the problems he has with Cutler. Because the fact that Denver was looking to acquire Cassel was big news that was going to come out sooner rather than later, and McD makes himself look like a liar and a hypocrite stressing "trust" when he can't even tell his QB the truth. McD and the Broncos have their own version of events, and the truth is probably somewhere in the middle, but remember, McD is a Belichick guy, and if he's even picked up a quarter of the paranoia and secretiveness of Belichick, then Cutler's version is totally plausible.
Go for cutler hes worth the jets first rounder for sure, its not like this is an especially strong draft class anyway. Cutler is only 26 years old and already is among the top Qbs in the league. Sure he takes chances but he also has the arm to make the seemingly impossible happen like vintage favre. This story DOES make cutler look like a baby but then again he was supposed to be the face of the franchise before Mc Daniels rolled in from new england. I dont care about all that, I just know hes a highly talented QB that could be very very good for my Jets. With cutler i could see the Jets making another playoff run in '09, without cutler I see far less points, W's and promise
Are you a baffoon? How many Pro Bowl QB in there ealy 20's are there in the league can you count on ONE Finger. How many newbe head coaches are out there a DOZEN. What if your boss went behind your back to get a another reporter. Would you man up and sit there like a bitch and take it. maybe you would by the way you write the story. I personal dont like the Broncos, but to think that Mcbelickeek didnt try to trade him is laughable. Then to lie about that is Ok in your book. JUST PART OF THE GAME. I hope your boss does that to you. Second how many playoff games did Belickick when with out a PRO BOWL QB, quess what none how many do you think he would f won with out TOM NONE. So to think that you can plug anyone into a QB postion go take a look at the VICKINGS, CHIEFS, JETS i can keep going. I have wasted enough time on an idiot Fish Wrap writer like you go back to writing the DEAR ABBY and stay out of sports you just dont fit
