Best is covering football again
Newsday's former Giants beat writer, who is now Newsday's current sports media beat writer (and blogger) got into the Mark Sanchez buzz last night while at the Tribeca Film Festival.
He ran into offensive tackle D'Brickashaw Ferguson and asked about Sanchez on the "Kobe Doin' Work" red carpet.
"Sanchez is a great athlete and as an organization we felt like we needed to
have him, so we did what we could to get him."
Best asked Brick if he was surprised about the deal?
"Every year it's different. Last year we had Favre. I knew it's not uncommon
for us to go after a big name."
What can you expect from a rookie quarterback?
"It is a tough job but he's been rated high and there are high expectations.
We hope the best for him but we have to ride it and try to have success."
Obviously this kind of thing provides a jolt of excitement for fans, as
players do you get excited or do you have to wait and see?
"I think everybody gets a little excited whenever draft time comes around.
You have to be optimistic. You can't be too negative from jump start. You
have play with your teammates. People develop and grow over time. I'm
optimistic. As a team we're optimistic. I think we can do some really great
things."
Good work, Best. As always.
... from the worlds are colliding department: We heard from our blog reader "M'Asia" that she ran into Best sometime around midnight at the Film Festival. She was duly impressed that Best would be out cavorting in such a cool venue.

She also thought it was quite odd for a 70 year old to be out that late.
I seem to remember someone telling me in Tempe that Best's blackberry turned into a pumpkin at midnight.
Best has since turned into a wild and crazy guy.
I think , putting goals in a great think, i have never done it.
