Eli Manning on Sanchez: "I wouldn't take off my shirt"

In an interview with Boomer Esiason on this week's "Boomer Esiason Show" on MSG, Boomer asked the Giants' quarterback if he had any advice for Jets first-round pick Mark Sanchez in the wake of Sanchez' beefcake photos in the latest edition of GQ:
"It’s not really my part to go up and talk to him and give him a lot of advice, “Do this, don’t do that,'" Manning said. "He’s got to be himself and figure out the things he needs to do. There’s nothing wrong with being on a magazine or doing those types of things. I wouldn’t take off my shirt but that’s what he’s got to do. It will be great for the other players. It will probably be in the locker room and blown up for everyone to sign. It’s just part of being yourself and going out there and learning from it whether you like it and if he doesn’t get it next year then there might be some issues."
Manning on extending the regular season to 17 games and taking away two preseason games:
"The season is already demanding, you look at guys who go a full 16 games without missing any time and you don’t see a whole lot of them. In preseason, you have training camp and then all the games you play and it takes a wear and tear on your body. I understand their point of view because it’s more money for them and that’s always an issue. But, I understand from the players’ point of view, it’s going to be a wear and tear and you are going to lose players for additional time. I don’t know if it’s worth it for players to miss three or four additional games out of the season."
Manning on athletes using performance enhancing drugs:
"I’ve never gotten into that. We lift weights and take things that help you recover after but I’ve never felt confident about taking something where I didn’t know the effects it would have on my body. It’s hard to say because you have guys who are cheating the system and looking to get an edge or an advantage but in the long run now, it’s become such an issue that if you do it, you’re going to get caught. You’re hurting yourself and your team. I’m against it. I think guys know that."
