Agent: Willis McGahee problems injury-related
There has been plenty of speculation about Willis McGahee's future with the Ravens. But as far as the running back's agent is concerned, the criticism surrounding the high-priced tailback is unwarranted.
In a Twitter post today, Drew Rosenhaus said that McGahee's problems last year were injury-related. After rushing for 1,207 yards in 2007, McGahee slipped to 617 yards last season amid reports he'd had a falling out with head coach John Harbaugh. McGahee signed a seven-year, $40 million contract in March, 2007 after being traded from the Bills.
"I take issue with the media critics of Willis McGahee," Rosenhaus wrote. "He made the 08 Pro Bowl. It isn't his fault that he had knee and ankle injuries last season."
Rosenhaus said McGahee required surgery for both injuries during the off'season. Interestingly, McGahee himself indicated he'd had only one surgery.
"I'm confident Willis will have a great yr in 09 & quiet these misguided media critics," Rosenhaus wrote.
