Brad Childress on Brett Favre: "Stay tuned"

And so, the dance continues.

Vikings coach Brad Childress won't close the door on signing Brett Favre, the soon-to-be 40-year-old quarterback who is recovering from surgery on an injury to his arm that caused him to drop off precipitously in his one and only season with the Jets in 2008.

Asked if Favre can still be a great quarterback, the coach replied: "Don't know. Don't know. Stay tuned."

Translation: Once Favre is functional enough to throw at a high enough level, he will be the new starting quarterback of the Vikings.

Drama everywhere.

"You have it lingering over your head, all day, every day," Vikings tight end Visanthe Shiancoe said. "Every time you turn on the TV, you see Favre, or you see something about Favre, or you see something about his shoulder, or you see him working out at the high school.

"You want to know what's going on, but at the same time, that's something that we can't control, so we leave it alone."

Sound familiar, Jets fans?
