New blog format, name change coming Monday
La Monica has been busy prepping for Newsday's revamped blogs, the final version to be unveiled Monday.
It's a brave new world for Newsday's blogs, and the updated software is supposed to alleviate some of the glitches that occurred with the old model. Hopefully all will proceed smoothly.
In the meantime, we'll be changing the name from "What About Bob" (a ripoff of the movie that was actually pretty lame in our estimation) to "NFL Hot Reads."
We have a regular "NFL Hot Reads" page in the Newsday paper during the NFL season, so it seemed to make sense to use that moniker on the blog. And with Chris "Mad Dog" Mascaro spreading his wings on all things NFL, there is even less of a need to get "Bob" in the blog name.

Good luck with the move. The anticipation of the new name is killing us.
I thought "What about Bob" was a perfect title for the offseason for this blog.
With all Mad Dog was posting...
I was constantly thinking to myself, What about Bob?
Sometimes it's really that simple, isn't it? I feel a little stupid for not thinking of this myself/earlier, though.
Pretty good, LTmeansLawrenceTaylor.
Sorry for taking a little time to clear the cobwebs after writing just about every day since last July.
If I don't get a little blog relief this time of year, there's no way I can satisfy your non-stop desire for all things Giants/NFL during the year.
Oh, and thanks for the guilt-free vacation time.
:)
Not all things Giants/NFL, Bob.
Things you no longer need to cover, according to LTmLT:
1) Anyone in the Vick family.
2) Brett Farve unless he signs. And even then, only in proportion to other NFL QBs of similar status.
3) Plaxico Burress
4) Chad Dumbdumb
5) Anything Twittered
6) Anything about Drew Rosenhaus' exploits.
7) TO's meltdown in Buffalo or anything non-performance related of TO.
8) Anything and everything fantasy football related.
I reserve the right to expand this list as other topics come up. =)
I also invite others to add to the list.
Hope you had a good break, with atleast a few guilt-free days... and all guilt-free nights!!!
Uh....Jeremy Shockey?
Hmm, Islander...
Jeremy Shockey coverage as a player is ok by me... but no more homoerotic pictures of him...
First, I love the blog, great info, great insight, great stuff. I just wanted to clarify that you mean ripping off the name was lame and not that "What About Bob?" was lame. Because that movie was a CLASSIC!! haha...
Sparky:
Lame on both accounts, actually. I just didn't like the movie.
Murray spoiled me with Caddyshack, Ground Hog Day, Ghostbusters, Scrooged.
Thought he was just too weird in What About Bob.
La Monica and I have been over this before. He respectfully disagrees. I gave him three years of "What About Bob."
Now it's my turn.
I cannot believe this is true!
