April 22, 2009

Let's "live chat" tomorrow at 2 p.m., shall we?

We're currently headed to an undisclosed location to meet up with La Monica and Adam "Big Cat" Abramson to shoot a draft-related video that is coming to computer screens shortly.

Tomorrow, join us at 2 p.m. for a chat in which we will discuss - what else? - the NFL draft that is fast approaching.

Live chat with Bob Glauber

Bob Glauber talks NFL -- Jets, Giants, Jay Cutler, LT, whatever -- today in a live chat at 11 a.m.

So many things to "live chat" about at 11 a.m.!

Since we last spoke, Terrell Owens is with a new team, LaDainian Tomlinson is with the same team, Andre Smith bombed in his personal workout, and Willie Colon - the Pride of Hofstra - has re-signed with the Stillers.

Draft is only weeks away!

Oh, and Max Kellerman has allowed Best's blog to go bonkers with comments and suggestions about the future whereabouts of the radio/tv personality.

If you'd like to discuss these matters - or anything else - stop by at 11 a.m.

Let's chat Thursday at 11 a.m., shall we?

The last time we did a "live chat," we went for a Newsday record 2 hours, 14 minutes.

With the big names of free agency now signed and the draft still more than a month away, we figure we might come up short of that record. Then again, you never know ...

February 26, 2009

Strong fingers, strong bladder needed for 2-hour chat

Well, it was a record-setting day for our little slice of the blogosphere, as we did a "live chat" for a whopping 2 hours and 14 minutes. That is believed to be the new standard for such an endeavor in the history of the Newsday website.

Thanks to all for participating ... and to the unidentified "Moderator" for keeping the questions coming.

It's a busy time around the NFL with the start of free agency, the Laveranues Coles divorce, the Brandon Jacobs contract, etc., and readers were up to the task in firing away on anything and everything.

Best finished things off nicely when he jumped on after we passed the two-hour mark by asking, "Have you lost your mind?"

This from a man who once wrote 52 posts in a single day - one for every week of his first full year as a blogger - to honor his readers.

Live chat this morning at 11 a.m.!!!!

Lots to talk about, from Laveranues Coles' departure from the Jets, to Brandon Jacobs' new deal with the Jints, to the start of free agency at 12:01 a.m. tonight ... or tomorrow morning, whichever you prefer.

Let's talk it out, shall we?

Tune in at 11 a.m.

Live chats are a big hit on Newsday.com

We'll have our own live chat on Thursday at 11 a.m., in which we will discuss NFL free agency, which begins 13 hours and 1 minute after the start of the chat. We'll also talk about the draft, or anything else remotely connected with the NFL.

Or, if you prefer, we can talk about the unique picture that the Mrs. forwarded me earlier.

In the meantime, Neil Best and Tom Rock had chats of their own today. Neil discussed all things media - and again wrote about the time we shared a hotel room - and Rock discussed all things Giants. And Boland's chat from a few days ago addressed all things Jets.

Bob Glauber answers your NFL questions today in a live chat at 11 a.m.

Plaxico Burress, Antonio Pierce, the Giants, the Jets, the NFL -- Glauber will take all questions.

Read my column! Join my chat at 11 a.m. today!!!

pierce.bmp
Tom Coughlin has pushed all the right buttons the last two seasons, but he may be up against his biggest challenge yet in the wake of the Plaxico Burress fiasco. It's what I wrote about for today's newspaper.

Pierce will be addressing the media later today.

If you'd like to discuss that or anything else about the Giants, Jets or anything NFL, please stop by at 11 a.m. for a fireside chat. It promises to be fun.

For additional reading on the Burress situation, check out Shaun Powell, Esq.'s column on Antonio Pierce. The Newsday columnist puts on his lawyer had and deduces that Pierce deserves a break for his role in the incident.

Or, if you prefer a more visual approach to the NFL, check out this week's edition of Giants Online. LTmeansLawrenceTaylor always chides me for not giving him a heads-up when there's an Online appearance. So here it is.

Absurd as this might sound, one thought running through my mind during this appearance was the advice given by Islander505, who says there is too much hand-waving when I speak.

Thanks for the Live Chat

thanks.gifJust wanted to give a separate shout-out to everyone who participated in today's Live Chat. Many thanks.

Thanks also to T Rock and Boland for allowing the chat to appear on their blogs. And thanks to Best, who hung out in the basement and actually chimed in during the blog. Of course, it was a question about Kerry Collins, the quarterback he's had a man crush all these years, but it was a welcome sight. Best even chimed in on a TV question posed by the one and only Bob Mantz.

Questions about Plaxico Burress and whether he'll ever get along with Tom Coughlin?

We're chatting today at 2 p.m.

Any questions about Brett Favre, with whom I just spoke a few minutes ago?

Plaxico Burress, with whom I spoke on a very bizarre conference a couple days ago?

Broncos?

Patriots?

Packers?

Why is NKR still so bitter about the Bills?

Does Islander505 have a job, and if so, how does he find all this time to make pithy comments on this blog? Same with Black N Gold?

See you at 2 p.m.

Will the Patriots survive without Tom Brady?

Will Brett Favre get the best of Bill Belichick?

Are Woody Johnson and John Mara nuts for considering naming the stadium for a company with Nazi ties in its past?

Is Vince Young a troubled young man, or just a wimp?

Will T Rock explain why he grew up a Redskins fan on Long Island?

Will Boland pump his fist in the air if his Beloved Brownies beat the Steelers on Sunday night?

Fascinating material, people. Be there!!!

UPDATE!!!!! Due to very important matters inside the Newsday home office - top secret meetings! - we will begin the chat at 3 p.m. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Join us for a chat at 3 p.m. today

We'll be live from the Jets' new digs in Florham Park, fresh off a conference call with former Jets quarterback Chad Pennington. So if you want to know what he said, or if you want to know what Brett Favre said at his morning presser, or if you'd like to see whether we have any thoughts on the theory of relativity, stop on by.

In the meantime, don't forget to sign up for our annual Beat Bob Glauber picks contest. You can win a 42-inch high definition television if you beat me ... and a few others who might be joining up.

Live chat at 3 p.m. today

We are dutifully preparing for our chat two hours hence. Please stop by and ask a question.

Boland has plugged our appearance, which we always appreciate. He even took a parting shot at us for posting a picture of Jessica Simpson in an item about her boyfriend, Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo.

This only days after Eboli posted an item on the newest Jets' employee Jenn Sterger, who will serve as their new game day host. Boland entitled the post, "Nice sass" (which is hilarious, actually). The picture that accompanied the post? Let's put it this way: The picture of the scantily clad Sterger was even too much for Best to post. Which might be another reason Best's head has exploded and he needs a blog break.

Boland live chat set for tomorrow at 11 a.m. We're assuming there will be a Brett Favre question or two.

August 13, 2008

Live chat tomorrow at 3 p.m.

We'll be here, so fire up your NFL questions. These live chats are a fun thing, providing further interaction between writer and reader, which is what makes this new era of journalism more interesting - and challenging - then ever.

Hopefully NKR will show up and ask about what we like to put in our egg white omlettes.

Maybe Islander505 is out there, too, although he's been relatively quiet these days. Guess even prolific commenters are entitled to some vacation time.

Of course, devoted poster Black N Gold was on hand for our last chat, so we hope he's in the house to pump up the Steelers once more.
