Good to see everyone coming out and posting their thoughts on the draft.
I would say to my man Turkeyleg that Whimper was drafted because of his athletic ability -- he'd played D-line in college and bounced around a lot, so JR obviously felt and still feels this guy has a future at LT. Coughlin may be a tougher sell, but it's not his call just now. Maybe once they get into camp, TC will have more of a say.
I think the reason they didn't select a kicker was simply value. You may not see any difference-makers up and down this list of draftees -- except for Smith, who I think will have the biggest impact this season -- but these are all guys who can contribute in some way immediately. If Mason Crosby didn't beat out Josh Huston or whatever veteran the Giants bring to camp, it was a wasted pick. They can't afford those.
I'll be back tomorrow when we get to chat with the assistants. Questions for Spagnuolo or Gilbride, anyone? You've got til 10 AM tomorrow to send em in...

Arthur, any thoughts on Keyshawn to the Giants? Could sign for verteran min, a cutable contract if he has a bad camp. It's decent Toomer recovery insurance at a minimum.
Arthur; whats the scoop with the guy from Cleveland, the OT? What do they want for him? Is the deal dead? If we can get him for a late round draft pick, why not? Our late rounders from last year didn't even make the opening day roster. They drafted his replacement anyways. BTW, am I the only guy that likes Chase Blackburn? I wish he could get worked in somewhere...
I think Whimper has a future at LT. The giants DONT need keyshawn, he is old and washed up, and they dont need a big slow possession guy. they have big guys to through to in the red zone and to get first downs. useless. the Shaffer trade is dead. i guess the browns wanted a 3rd, and reese wasnt giving it. i like blackburn too, but not as a starter. he is a great special teams guys, and a smart backup, he just dosent have the physical tools.
If you can ask him, what ways his scheme differs from Jim J's schemes in being aggressive and getting to the qb? What fundamental twists in the Xs and Os of his scheme account for the aggressive nature?
Hey Arthur, can you ask Gilbride if he plans on running the ball more then last year to take pressure off Eli.

Question for Spags regarding Kiwi to SAM and the DE rotation... with his move to LB, the DE depth chart drops off to Strahan - Osi; Tuck - Awasom... with two of those players coming off serious injury. Are there any plans to also use Kiwanuka at DE during the season (in addition to SAM), for example on long 3rd downs?
just to add to ralphs question. how will spags specificaly handle brian westbrook in his new scheme?
Marcus Bell has been a very good DT when he is at the proper weight. Could you ask Waufle what is Bell's current conditioning and weight. What weight does Waufle want Bell playing at this season?
Could you ask Pete Guinta to talk a little bit about EJ Underwood. Is he fully healthy? Where does he plan on using him this season?
I wasn't at all surprised by the Kiwi to LB announcement. (I am pleased by it).
Question: Will we see more of that kind of move ?
AS a defense coordinator, what were the major weaknesses he saw from the Giants offense and will he have any input into changes for the offense since he has studied the Giants O for so long with the Eagles.?
Arthur: Question for Spags: What is his evaluation of our starting Safeties, Wilson and Demps? Can he implement the type of safety coverage that he prefers with them? Thanks
for Gilbride: Eli and the Giants offense was very effective running the no-huddle. in fact, Eli seemed much more comfortable when he was at the line of scrimmage calling the plays and surveying the defense.
will we see more of that?
For Spags "Will we see more press coverage out of our DBs?"
For Spags: Will Kiwi spend most of his time from the SAM position rushing the passer or attacking the line of scrimmage?
For Gilbride: He says he wants to use the long ball more, but are those slow-developing, low-percentage plays going to help an offense that can't sustain drives? Especially with an unsettled LT?
Just to echo comments from Greg and John, I think the only hope this team has is if the Offense adopts a grind it out John Riggins style approach to the Offense using Brandon Jacobs. This would serve the dual purpose of taking pressure off the Defense and Eli.
All comments regarding the Offense from Coughlin and Gilbride seem to indicate that they think the opposite - that we need to rely more on the long ball. I really hope this just a smoke screen but I don't think so.
Are we going to see any 4 receiver sets with Plax, Toomer, Moss, Rice (if all healthy at once of course). Maybe Shockey in there somewhere.
