A few of the prominent guys ducked out quickly -- Pierce, Osi, Strahan, Shockey -- and the rest said some very familiar sounding things... At least familiar to those who were around after the week 3 debacle in Seattle last season:
Gibril: "We've just got to get off the field on third down. It's simple as that. We're not splitting the atom here."
Mitchell: "It's about having that confidence, being ready to beat your man and thinking you're going to be the one to get to the quarterback. We're just not getting that big play. It looks real hard right now, but it's as simple as that."
Webster: "We shouldn't have to wait until we have a bye week (like we had last season after the Seahawks loss) or wait until we're last in the league in defense to turn things around. Let's do it on our own, that should be our motto."
TC got a pretty good grilling -- about why the Packers' less-than-elite tight ends were uncovered, about why there's no pass rush and why Mathias Kiwanuka is coming off the field so much in passing situations -- and he had some explanations, but not too many answers.
As for the injuries, WR Steve Smith (fractured scapula) is out at least two weeks, according to the Giants, and then he's week-to-week. I'll interpret that as at least a month.
DE Adrian Awasom has a fractured transverse process in his back, the same injury that felled William James/Peterson. Think that's all for Awasom this season; in fact, FB Robert Douglas was back with the team today, though they made no roster move as of yet.
Douglas is in because RB Ahmad Bradshaw (sprained elbow) is out. Also on the injury report: LB Reggie Torbor (bruised elbow), QB Jared Lorenzen (sprained ankle) and WR Plaxico Burress (sprained right ankle/sprained left pinky).
That is all.

Who is the Giants trainer and how does that person keep their job?
Now on the clock...
Well folks, Sunday is the day this thing turns around for us.
At Washington
vs. Philadelphia
vs. Jets
At Atlanta
I don't care what anyone says. We can beat any 3 of those teams to get back in this damn thing. No, I'm not smoking anything either!
You're completely right, I was sure the Giants would make a comeback after being down one at the half. They're beating themselves right now, and there is no reason we can't be 4-4 at least at the bye, maybe even 5-3. We'll go as far as Eli takes us, and the defense for that matter.
I hope you guys are right, but I think your dillusional. Our defense is horrible. If they haven't figured it out now after a whole training camp, preseason, and two games, then guess what? They ain't gonna. Fire TC, get Shottenhiemer in here now!
I hope we get the 2nd pick in the draft, Mcfadden is a franchise back.
Damn straight man, we'll just have to see what happens Sun. In the meantime, I'm sure the players and coaches will study tonight's game like hawks.

Why would we go offense in the first round? Obviously our problem is with the defense. I'm just not sure if there's a valuable defensive player to pick at #2, but undoubtedly, if the Giants do bad this season, they'll be up there somewhere.
Just one word can be used to describe the Giants " Pathetic". The GM ran the scouting program, sat idle and didn't sign anyone of any value to the team, and now must take resposibility for this mess. Lombardi couldn't win with this group.
Our defense is far from 'done'. We did a lot of good things in the first half. But we missed several opportunities (i.e Strahan drops an INT, etc.)
I won't re-hash the litany of bone-headed goofs, gaffs, and generally inane blunders that cost us big points.
The problem was GB switched to a short passing game in the second half. Favre went with some really quick drops and played 'gunslinger' when he had to. Then they threw in some deep routes and torched our secondary at key points. Spags has not come up with an anwser to the short passing game and we have seen tight-ends and backs run free over the middle in both games.
I have to believe this is 'fixable' - I hope sooner than later.
It's too soon to give up on this 'D'. I'm more worried about special teams.
We'll see what happens in Washington.

Over the last several days, I have read that Strahan needs time to get in shape and adjust to game-conditions football. I am amazed that we, the fans, are letting the organization off with a bye when it comes to Football 101! Conditioning, game-speed-conditioning, team chemistry is something you work on in July / August! Its not done in the month of Sept.! I say, get rid on the coaches, the GM, and the players who obviously don't care after 2 games... Giants fans deserve so much better... I know I do....
Bullsh!t, the players do care about what is going on but won't put anyone in a panic so they stay quiet about it. The players know what they HAVE to do but you know how it is. Easier said than done!!
To gmen79player - This team will likely go 0-4 in Sept. When would you recommend to panic? Its a business and its called what have you done for me on the last play? - Obviously, you watch the tube and don't spend the bucks at the stadium - don't think about quitting your day job for a coaching position...
Respectfully,
Wolf
