Here's how REAL reporters get the job done:
In case you are wondering, that's footage of a sit down with Shockey during his promotional event at Flushing Meadows Corona Park on Saturday. I was there. I didn't get a sitdown with him. Sigh.
If you can't see of hear the video, the most interesting point is Shockey talking about what would happen if the Giants traded him.
"If the team trades me, I promise you I'm going to make them pay. If I ever get a chance to play against a team that trades me, it's not going to be a pretty sight."
Also of note, Shockey says that if he wasn't drafted by the Giants he would have wanted to be drafted by the Saints. Hmm, wasn't that the team that was sniffing around him in trade talks this spring?
Keeping the day going with news on players who are still unretired, there was a practice today. Shockey was not there, nor, obviously, was Strahan. But the others missing from the voluntary workout were D.J. Hall, Lawrence Tynes, Plaxico Burress, Sam Madison, and David Tyree (who was inside getting treatment on his knee). Corey Webster was on the field but did not participate. He was replaced in the starting D by R.W. McQuarters. With Antonio Pierce and Osi Umenyiora on the field, the starting D looked like this:
Tuck, Robbins, Cofield and Osi across the front; Pierce in the middle flanked by Chase Blackburn (weak side) and Kiwanuka (strong side) at linebacker; Aaron Ross and McQuarters at corners and Michael Johnson and James Butler at safeties.
