Plaxico Burress said it was a business decision that kept him on the sideline for this morning's practice, that he has been in negotiations with the Giants for several months on a contract that will keep him a Giant for "a long time," and that he would have been healthy enough to practice if he was happy with the progress of negotiations. He has three years remaining on his current deal. He would not say whether or not he would attend training camp under his current deal.
More later as it develops.

What was his current contract? And how does that compare to other NFL Top receivers?
One thing he has to remember is he has never been to the pro bowl and he is not one of the elite receivers. He is very good, but not top 5.
Ego's and agents always get in the way though...
He's got 3 years left on his current contract that will pay him $10mil (a little over $3mil/year). Compare that to Terrell Owens, who just signed a 3-year $34mil contract extension, and Jevon Walker, who got a 6 year $55mil contract. No question that Plax is underpaid relative to other top WRs....
