Drew Rosenhau, who reps both Plaxico Burress and Jeremy Shockey, was in the parking lot here at Giants Stadium a little earlier. He had some words to say, but not much of a sentiment to express. He said he was just here to visit with some of his clients and not to talk with GM Jerry Reese about anything. Reese, who was also here (and why not, he works here), said he had not and didn;t have plans to meet with Rosenhaus.
Rosenhaus also told us he'd like to "dwell on the positives." Not sure what those are, exactly, as Shockey refuses to step on the field and Burress said he isn't practicing until he gets a new deal.
Here are a few snippets of the exchange between Rosenhaus and reporters:
Q: By Burress standing on the sideline, are you trying to antagonize the Giants?
A: We’re not trying to antagonize the Giants. I think everyone knows Plax has been battling an ankle injury. He didn’t practice most of last year because of the ankle and it was just a carryover. The bottom line is I’m very confident Plax will be healthy and ready to go for the start of the season.
Q:He said he was healthy enough to practice
A: I’m going to steer away from that. I think the focus should be we are in discussions with the team, Plaxico was here. I think we’re headed in the right direction. I’d rather not get into anything that might be negative.
Q: People don’t realize what a sensitive guy he can be. Is it beyond the point where his feelings can be mended?
A: It’s an issue that we’re working on, that we’re talking to the team with. We’re just going to have to take it one day at a time.
Q: Do you think Plax will be fined for not participating in practice this week?
A: I hope not. The bottom line is he shouldn’t be. He does have an ankle (injury) and he’s been in treatment all minicamp. I think he’s gone about things professionally and he’s been in communication with his coaches and he’s here. We want to dwell on the positives.
