Wanna bet if Shockey's at camp?

It's almost a lock that he won't be. No, not according to him or the Giants or anyone else involved with the situation. But those are the chances posted by the folks at BetUS.com, which recently released their odds of NFL players either holding out or sitting out at the start of training camp for their teams. Shockey is getting 1-to-1 odds that he doesn't show.

Here are the players they are playing:

Titans DT Albert Haynesworth -- 3/1
Ravens OLB Terrell Suggs -- 2/1
Lions WR Roy Williams -- 10/1
Cardinals WR Anquan Boldin -- 5/1
Giants TE Jeremy Shockey -- 1/1
Dolphins DE Jason Taylor -- 2/1
Eagles CB Lito Sheppard -- 10/1
Rams RB Steven Jackson -- 15/1
Bears LB Brian Urlacher -- 15/1
Bucs QB Jeff Garcia -- 7/1

I think 1/1 odds means you get your bet back plus an amount equal to your bet. Which implies the people at BetUS.com think there is a 50/50 chance that Shockey won't show. Or at least that bet will generate even action on both sides.

Wouldn't getting your bet back plus an amount equal to your bet be 2/1?

No. Think about it this way. Getting blackjack usually pays 3/2 (or 1.5/1). You don't win your bet back and half your bet. You win your bet back plus 1 and a half your bet. Beating the dealer pays 1/1 because you get your bet back and the size of your bet. The way you are saying it, blackjack would have to pay 2.5/1 (or 5/2) which is not the case.

Who cares if he showes up?!? Hopefully he'll be gone by the time camp starts but I highly doubt that would happen. I am more worried about Plaxico's contract situation getting solved than a crybaby who does'nt want to be a part of the team anymore. Wise up Jerry! Get rid of Shock while you still can!
