Giants (fans) vs. Redskins (fans)

Since you're likely one or the other if you're checking out this blog, I thoght this information I received from a company called Scarborough Sports Marketing might be interesting. Basically it breaks down the makeup of each fan base. How accurate is it? I have no idea. But it's at least fun to read. For instance, did you know that a Redskins fan is statistically more likely to be a woman than a Giants fan? But Redskins fans tend to earn more money

Redskins Fans Are More Likely to be Women
Forty-four percent of Washington D.C.’s Redskins fans* are women, versus 31 percent of New York’s Giants fans. Redskins fans are also more educated. Thirty-eight percent have a four-year college degree or higher, versus 33 percent of Giants fans.

The Redskins also win when it comes to income. Forty-four percent of Redskins fans have an annual household income of $100k+, whereas 39 percent of Giants fans are at this income level. However, Giants fans are 21 percent more likely than others in New York to make $100k+ annually. By contrast, Redskins fans are just six percent more likely than others in Washington D.C. to have this income.

Giants fans and Redskins fans are avid investors, and are more likely than other consumers in their market to have household financial investments. Thirteen percent of Giants fans have household investments (excluding real-estate) valued at $500k or more, as do 14 percent of Redskins fans.

Giants Fans Drive Cadillacs, Redskins Fans Drive Lincolns
Ford is the most common vehicle make among both Giants and Redskins fans. Seventeen percent of Giants fans own or lease a Ford in their household, as do one-quarter (25 percent) of Redskins fans. However, Cadillac has the highest concentration of Giants fans among its drivers. Giants fans are 68 percent more likely than all New Yorkers to own or lease a Cadillac. Lincoln, on the other hand, is unusually popular among Redskins fans. Redskins fans are 44 percent more likely than all D.C. adults to live in a household that owns or leases a Lincoln, making it the automotive brand with the highest concentration of Redskins fans.

Giants Might Win on the Golf Course
Both Giants and Redskins fans are avid golfers. Giants fans are twice as likely as other New Yorkers to have golfed during the past year. Redskins fans are 43 percent more likely than others in their market to have done so. Additionally, Giants fans are slightly more likely than other New Yorkers to belong to a gym. Redskins fans are average for gym membership.

Giants Celebrate with Vodka, Redskins with Cognac
Vodka is the liquor of choice for Giants fans. More than a quarter (27 percent) drank vodka during the past month, and they are 31 percent more likely than other New Yorkers to have done so. Vodka is a popular liquor among Redskins fans as well – 18 percent of them consumed it during the past month. But cognac is a standout liquor for them. While only six percent of Redskins fans consumed cognac during the past month, they are 42 percent more likely than other D.C. residents to have done so. Both Giants and Redskins fans are higher than average beer drinkers.

Both Redskins and Giants Fans are Well-Wired, Watching Games in High-Definition
Fans of both teams have higher-than-average technological adoption in their household. The wide array of tech items they have or use at home includes everything from broadband Internet and satellite radio to DVRs and VOD. Giants fans are 21 percent more likely than other New Yorkers to have a video game system at home. Redskins are market average for video game system ownership.

Fans of both teams could be watching their games in high-definition. Forty percent of Giants fans, and forty-three percent of Redskins fans, have high-definition television.

NOTE: All fan data reflects the local market (DMA) where the team is located only.
*Fan is defined as consumers in the team’s local market who watched a game on broadcast or cable television during the past year; listened to game on the radio during the past year; or attended a game during the past year.
