Quick Pre-game Update

By Tom Rock

Just a quick info blast for those savvy readers waiting for such info before making their predictions before the deadline in about 40 minutes. CB Andre Dyson is ACTIVE, but that's no indicator of how much he will play. Mangold and Moore are ACTIVE and they'll be starting on the o-line. No other notable moves by the Jets to get to their 45. Blaylock and Barlow are inactive and so is Schlegel. Clemens is the No. 3 QB.

Rodney Harrison is INACTIVE for the Pats. Their third QB is some guy from Elmont.

maybe id Fireman Ed and Captain Jet, were in the stands, the jets could have won... I mean, you Jet fans, who last year wouldnt have known Eric Mangini if you fell on him, were so upset about the way our coach shook his hand..like he is a sudden God.. Go back to the doldrums of the NFL where you belong.. oh and next year, when you have an actual NFL schedule, we'll see how much you love man-genius... worst loss in Jets playoff history.. pathetic

Tom,

Looking ahead for the Jets it is quite evident that they are not going to sneek up at anybody next year. The 2007 schedule is quite brutle, as they will be playing the likes of Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Kansas City, Philadelphia, Washington, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Tennessee, Dallas, N.Y. Giants, as well as there division foes. They will have to improve in areas as running back, defensive line, secondary, and overall depth. The Jets had a fantastic year, but next year will be a defining year, as expectations coupled with a more difficult schedule will make the 2007 season more challanging.

I cannot believe what you just said. This season is by far a success. I love Mangini coaching style. I believe in this guy more than Herm ever was. I hope we take the next step and become a 12 -14 win team. I am tired of 8 - 10 win range. I want title contention. How do we do it? Any Ideas?

Mangini was able to equal Herman Edwards first year record as HC. 10 -6 and a quick exit in a blowout loss.

Jets went 6 -1 vs the nine worse teams in the NFL and won only a single game vs winning teams. Chad's miraculous return, cupcake schedule and absence of any significant injuries added sugar to the green Kool Aid.

Lets see this overrated, overhyped and overweight coach equal Herman Edwards record in his second year... an AFC East Championship and a blowout first playoff win vs the Colts 41-0.

Anything else and you will be throwing tomatoes at him a year from now. SOJ

There is no way Mangini will match Herm Edwards' 2nd year with the Jets. If anything, I can see the Jets regressing with the upcoming schedule being harder. Bottom line, this team lacks over-all talent and is still 2 years away from competing against the elite teams. Fans should not be shocked by a 6-10 or 7-9 season next year... Year 3 will be the tell all in Mangini's magical ride.
