How often has one team had so many 60+ yard drives and no punts. Can the Jets defense be that bad?
If the Pats beat 2 different teams with the same level of offensive stats then I guess it might be possible that they didn't cheat.
Why is so far fetched to consider a forfeit? They were caught cheating in the act?
Greg Brady's nemesis was punished more for stealing the playbook than the Pats will be for videotaping signals.
Give me a break. Draft picks? They're the No.1 team in the NFL, and even if they don't go to or win the Super Bowl, they get crappy picks anyway.
This incident not only hurts the Jets in the win column, but hurts the image of the NFL...yet again.
So as long as your on top, and willing to blow some extra cash/draft picks, go ahead and cheat. The Pats/Kraft won't feel the fines anyhow... so they win.. again.
Kraft: "We worked very hard to try to put an organization together that we all could be proud of in New England, and we're very proud of the New England Patriots organization and the record that they've established over the last 13 seasons and one game."
Deleted from print..
"We also work hard to win using ANY means we can... including cheating, so we can uphold that 13 year record."
So much for honesty and integrity in the NFL.
I am a long time die hard fan going back to 1966. As a season ticket holder it bothers me that there was the cheating in Sunday's game. Fans are paying a small fortune in both money and time to go to the M'lands, and to know that the integrity of the game is compromised in dead wrong.
Yes, we were manhandled on Sunday, especially our d-line. I would hope that we don't miss the playoffs because of this one game.
The penalty should also include a forfeit. The Pats are a better team, but beat us by playing football, not by playing spy games.
You go to WWF knowing its rigged, you go to Jai Alai you know its rigged. The NFL is supposed to be held to a higher standard
“Patriots Are Cheaters” - It is about time we called this incident what it really is, cheating, or alleged cheating if you must. Since this story broke, I’ve heard it referred to as espionage and spying along with “alleged violation of league policy.” We should not confuse this blatant violation of league rules by the coaching staff, and possibly the front office, of an NFL franchise with what thousands of our fellow citizens do, some at great personal risk, in defense of our nation, it belittles their efforts. Sure we can use semantics to justify the use of espionage and spying, but call it what it really is, cheating.
It cheats the Patriot’s players and fans, it cheats those teams who have faced the Patriots, it cheats the league, and more importantly, it cheats all the fans of NFL football. What kind of example does this incident set for a sport that reportedly prides itself on good sportsmanship, is supposedly built on character and integrity? Everyone understands that the actions of a few individual players have and will continue to embarrass their teams and tarnish the reputation of the league as a whole. But for a coaching staff and possibly the front office of this “storied” franchise to be involved in such blatant cheating is an outrage and the punishment should be equal to the crime. I believe Terrell “TD” Davis got it right on the NFL network last night when he proposed probation similar to the NCAA, banned from the post-season, regardless of their record. The loss of draft choices and/or fines is not really appropriate in this case. Since espionage is traditionally dealt with severely, let this punishment fit the crime as well.
Jeff,
We were still in the game at the half, and even after the kick return for a TD. What happens is that each team, as you probably know already, is allowed to photograph offensive formations, and defensive sets to plan against. But what the Pats were doing is taping the coaches the entire 1st half. Now you have video tape and photos with time signatures on them. So they go in the locker room at half-time and match them up. Now you have the signals and the photos matched up.
So if the Jets call a defensive play, which is done by hand signals, the Pats Offense knows what it is, and can react to it. It's that simple.
That's cheating on all accounts, hence why it looked like the Pats knew exactly what we were going to do and blew us away.
Same for the offense, which is why they are looking into how many radio frequencies the Pats used. Apparently they were listening in to the Jets offense channel.
It doesn't suprise me, they were caught 2 years ago by the Packers for the same thing. So they've probably been doing it all along.
This is not a winning team, this is a cheating team.
Not surprised at all. This is typical for a Boston/New England based team. Bruins used to do it by turning off the AC to "soften up the ice" against speed skating teams. Celtics did it to slow the Lakers down. Bosox have been accused of having a camera in centerfield to steal signs and relay the information to the dugout. Never ends. And then they want to know why their teams have so much bad luck. How many Superbowls are legitimate now, Beli-Crook.
Turning the A/C on in Miami or the heat up in Balitmore is not cheating. Picking up a cut player and grilling him for information is not cheating. STEALING SIGNALS DURING THE GAME IS. Besides watching and taping the coaches, the Patriots also may have been listening in with radio frequencies. ALSO CHEATING. Claiming "everyone's doing it" is no defense. That's like a 13 year old's excuse for drinking beer. Belichump has been caught and now his team and its Super Bowl rings are tainted. The Pats are now considered the Barry Bonds of the NFL. A talented team that cheats to earned an advantage over others.
The Patriots didn't cheat. They almost did. The videotape got taken away from them so stop complaining and coming up with excuses.
And even if the Patriots cheated, how is that an excuse for three Jet defenders getting blown away by Randy Moss?
Thats right. Almost forgot about the radio signals. Great catch! How much more proof is needed before strong disciplinary action is taken?
The Pats have one of the top QB's, top 5 defense, OL and Receiver in Moss and still think they need and advantage to beat the Jets? Maybe Belechik was still pissed about the Jets beating them in Fox Boro last year. Who's to say that the Pats didn't use this in last years playoff game when they broke open the game in the second half? Lost of draft pick is just a slap on the wrist. If Pats wins AFC playoff home field advantage by one game over the Colts, can the Colts protest? You know Pats will accept that Home field advantage in exchange for a few draft picks. The QB usually has a few seconds to read a defense and adjust a play based on what he thinks Def. coverage will be. Those who think that knowing what Defense will be played is NOT a major advantage really don't understand the game of Football on any level much less the NFL.
The next best thing to the Jets winning the Super Bowl is this...knowing that the Patsies and Bely-check won there's by cheating. Now all I need to make 2007 a perfect year is to watch the Red Sox crumble and the Yankees role to number 27!!! Thank you Bill.

The game should be considered a "suspended" game and they should replay the game only if it will determine the outcome of the division or playoff spot at the end of the season.
Jimmy-
Allow me clarify myself here, since you missread my statement.
I feel that the Pats are a better team. However, if they are going to beat us then beat us fair and square. But, don't bring any of the cheating to the game. There is no room for it. Its wrong, and as a paying customer on Sunday I felt ripped off.
I believe a forfeit, a draft pick and even refunds to the fans are in order. Goodell is wasting his time here if the only sanction is a fine against the team.
Lastly, lets hope that Chad's injury heals quickly. He is vital to the team success this year.
I think this is going beyond ridiculous. If the Jet coaches were standing behind a curtain instead of standing out in the open or if their personal signals via air waves was intercepted, then there might be something here. The coaches stand on the sidelines and make hand signals to their players. If our team is so intelligent, why not change the signals during the game like they do in baseball? Or better yet, send false signals so the Pats make the wrong play. This is all the Jets fault for not being resilient. Are we Just Ending The Season?
BELICHICK worse than BONDS
IF Bonds took he only tried to effect HIS play.
IF Belichick intercepted opponent radio frequencies and video taped defensive play calling he STOLE specific OPPONENT TEAM info that would severely change the outcome of the game.
What is worth more the HOME RUN RECORD or THREE SUPER BOWLS?
IF Bonds took he only took Aaron's record.
IF Belichick stole opponents information he cheated the NFL out of 3 legit SUPER BOWLS.
This is really bad.
Where there is proof people get stung.
Which one gets stung first?
