Greetings from Buffalo where the weather does not seem to be playing a role in today’s game. Mid 70s. Sunny. A great day for football. A great day for, well, anything outdoors. I’m glad I’m here now and not on Dec. 23. That’s when the Giants roll into town. That’s not a bring-your-golf-clubs road trip. In fact, this is the second year the Jets are in and out of Buffalo before the weather turns (which up here is the middle of October).
Here’s the long-standing sportswriter tradition of blogging the inactives. Nobody blogged the inactives like Jim Murray. For the Jets: Marques Tuiasosopo, Drew Coleman, Darian Barnes, Cody Spencer, Will Montgomery, Mike DeVito, Jacob Bender and Jason Pociask. For the Bills, their inactive list reads simply: defense.
Jets are wearing white over white. Bills are blue over blue. So both are in uniform uniforms. I was sitting here wondering aloud why special teams guys – kickers, punters, long-snappers – are always the first ones in full uniform. For those of you in regular society who aren’t inside an NFL stadium three hours prior to kickoff, while the rest of the team warms up in shorts and T-shirts, those specialists are in full pads. Anyone with insight on the phenomenon, feel free to drop us a line.

Someone tell Mangini to dump Chad. The guy's "arm" is a joke and almost got Cotch killed.

I tend to believe that arm strength is the most OVERRATED quarterbacking attribute, but you have to have something that at least approaches average. Before the injury, Pennington had it.
Not anymore.
At this point, his arm is simply not functional at this level. He's a very nice guy and a good Jet. He just can't do it anymore.
I don't see why we need to flush this season down the toilet out of respect to Chad Pennington. I think it's clear that he won't be the Qb here in 2008, so there's no sense in having him man a losing ship.

Chad's arm is sucha liability. He can't stretch the field and there are no big explosion plays. Clemens can do this and needs to play.
The season is shot. Let Kellen play. Please Mangini. Let Kellen play.

Mangini doesn't seem like he's the same coach. I'm not sure what happened but his swagger is gone. He's so dead on the sidelines and has maed some questionable calls so far. The Mangeinus label is gone. The Mangidiot label is next!

Thomas Jones has 12 carries 35 yards. Why did they bring him here for that?
He is so much better than that. This is going to be a long year.

What's the deal with Barnes being inactive? I thought he was a big free agent pick up who was supposed to make a big difference in the running game? I guess they don't need him since they don't have a running game.
Where is the defense? How is Bob Sutton so bad this year? The coaches on both sides of the ball stink. Even special teams stnk this year.
I don't know what they practiced in training camp but it is not showing up now.
Mangini No genius no more. Yes I passed third grade English. But the joke is this franchise. The Jets go into Buffalo and lose to a team that is starting a rookie QB and is 0-3. As a lifelong Jets fan i will always think the worst. And of course it usually happens. Funny thing being a Yankees fan i think just the oppossite. But I thought maybe just maybe this regime was different. Right Parcells and his crew were different. But of course no ring. That being said, it starts and ends with the owner. Woody Johnson is a joke. Where is his outrage? You think for a second that if the Steinnbrenner owned this team (of course with a cap) that they would NOT have won at least one Super Bowl? Shoot they haven't even gone to one Super Bowl since 69. They could be the most inept franchise in the tri-state area. Even the Nets went to 2 Championship games in the last 5 years. What the heck is going on? They have a QB who has a problem with his arm strenght. Yes i know Joe Montana. I hear you. But at the end of the game when you have to throw out passes his passes just float out there. That last interception was just another latest example that the Jets don't have that Championship QB starting for them now. Who knows maybe Clemens is that guy. But of course it won't be this season that they go to the Super Bowl. When is that season going to happen? Mangini the guru on defense has a scheme that doesn't fit his personal. Vilma is miscast in the 3-4 and plus he's overated to begin with. They should of traded him during the draft and started David Harris. They have a problem and they make it worse. For 1 million dollars they let their best offensive lineman go. Their first draft pick Ferguson is average at best. They finally make a good trade for a player and they underulitize him. Thomas Jones is wasting away here. On defense, they can't sniff the QB and they let up big plays at the worst times. The finally make a heads up play with the fake spike and they miss the field goal. Didn't we all think Nugent was going to miss? I hate this pattern behavior but they never make us feel any different. Looks like a long season is at hand. The Giants have an offense and a defense. 1-4 is on the horizon. Maybe Tannenbaum and Mangini should give a call to those other losers Omar Minaya and thank him for the collapse. Come to think about it, Didn't the Mets win the a Championship in 86 and go to the Championship in 00. That is still much better than the most inept franchise in the tri-state area!!!

Not sure if you watch any games so far, but Pennington is NOT the problem. The Defense hasn't been able to put can't any consistent pressure an ANy QB this year. THe Bills QB was a rookie 3rd round pick and he sat back there and seemed to have 3 options on every pass.. where is Bowens and all those DE's signed in the off season? The same thing happened last year in the 1st half. Then it was a new system what's the excuse now? Bottom of the league in pressures, sacks and turnovers gives offense low margin for error.... and the ball should never be thrown to McCairens when a play is needed. Something bad always happens, going back to the NE playoff loss.
He will not fight for the ball like Coles and Cotchery... Giants, Phily and Bengals next. No Pass rush will mean 1-6. Chad's floaters will get a player hurt like Ken O'Brien helped cut Al Toon's Jet career short floating the ball over the middle
This team sucks. How many years of this can a guy take? If we all know what the problem is, why doesn't Mangenius?
We can't even beat the worst team in the NFL, because WE ARE THE WORST TEAM IN THE NFL!
