The play's the thing

By Tom Rock

As that old commercial used to say: “You make the call.”

It’s third-and-1 at the Eagles 4. Plenty of time to do whatever you want with whatever personnel you want. You have two time outs remaining, so you can size up the defense and then figure out what you want to do.

How do you play it?

And if anyone says run a quarterback sneak against a stacked defensive line, well, the Jets might be contacting you for possible employment in the near future.

Mangini went from Mangenius to Mangidiot within a period of less than one year! The guy has been an awful coach this season and his worse move was when he ratted out Belichick, who without his help, he wouldn't have had this job, and now the Pats are playing with a mission and will go 16-0 and a championship. Mangini and Schottenheimer, like his father, a gutless playcaller, are a terrible duo, and don't even get me started on Sutton!

However, the worse thing Mangidiot could do, with the Jets at 1-5 and already done, is continue to play PennyBoy at QB. Chadwick throws like a girl and runs like one too. He doesn't have it anymore and his decision making has refressed as well! Put in Clemens already, Mangini.

Mangini was a better coach when he was fat and had moobs.

That was one of your best posts; I have read them all.

Tom, I know it's probably old news, but did any team other than the JETS show interest in Mangini prior to last season?

Third and one was the time to be tricky. Didn't they put the ball in Brad Smith's a ton of times on short yardage last year? Maybe an option play. That's of course you want to trick somebody. I wanted them to try and run with Jones. Maybe off tackle if they were stacking the middle of the line. I don't get it. They outsmart themselves. Pennington is forcing his throws. It's like he's hearing everything that is being said about him. It's time for a change at QB. But Jet Officials will stick with Chad until the season is over. Right now teams like Carolina, Arizona, Minnesota all need QB'S. But this is typical of the Jet franchise.

The most successful plays the Jets used this year is the QB sneak and the fade to Coles in the end zone. On the other hand, the least successful plays is running Thomas Jones up the middle in goal line situations..... Jones has ZERO TD's this year. Monday Morning Qb'ing among the myopic media rules.

The Jets have myriad problems, QB being the least of them. There are simply no impact players on offense or defense. Leon Washington is the only Pro Bowl candidate and that's only as a ST player.

Front office and coaching are bigger problems.

Chad had Herm fooled and now Mangini too. He's the joke of the league at his position. With his arm strength he lobs the ball so that either his receivers have to stop to jump up to catch it or it gets intercepted by the DB jumping the route. Even when a pass is completed Chad never hits the receiver on the run so they end up taking harder hits than they should. A good QB makes plays and doesn't let himself get sacked. Step up in the pocket and make something happen! Look what McNabb did when the defense came after him. Chad crumbles up in a ball and falls down. How pathetic!!! I know everyone loves Chad, the person. But it's time to stop fooling ourselves because we're not fooling any defenses. You can't win games when defenses don't respect your QB and they line everybody up in the box making it almost impossible to run. This team is not going to the playoffs so play Clemens and see if you have a QB for next year. How much more do we need to see of Chad?
