D-Rob trade dying

As you might have guessed just by the amount of time this thing is taking, the trade talks between the Jets and Broncos are starting to peter out. They're not RIP yet and could be resumed at any time, but nothing seems imminent.

Why? A couple reasons from what I'm hearing out west. First of all, Robertson did fail his physical with the Broncos, but the team was willing to overlook the medical evidence based on the fact that Robertson hasn't missed any games the last few years. They were also willing to overlook it because they are a bit desperate for defensive line help.

The other reason is money. Take a look at this story in the Denver Post about the team cutting several jobs from its operations staff. Robertson was supposedly willing to work with the Broncos on a new deal, but he wasn't able to come down enough for them to make it work. The cash-strapped Broncos just couldn't afford to take on his salary (though I was told they were, at one point, willing to go into debt to bring him in).

So was it the money? The bone-on-bone? The idea that Robertson will be on the open market by June? Probably all of the above in a strange brew that finally appears to have squelched the trade -- for now.

****.

This really is bad, we can't even give this guy away now. I don't know what the Jets Front Office, Doctors, whoever made the stupid decision were thinking drafting this guy. The fact that Terry Bradway traded away 2 draft picks for him and is still employed by the Jets is an even bigger joke. Now we're stuck with him and he's going to be eating up so much salary to basically play a reserve role on the D-Line.
I wonder if our old friend Herm down in KC would be interested in acquiring D-Rob, the thing is with Dewayne's crazy salary, plus bone on bone, it's going to be so hard to trade this guy anywhere.

I always thought Blair Thomas was the Jets' worst first-round pick. This guy may supersede him for that dubious honor.

Hey G... he will not be a reserve lineman. He will be cut by June 1st.

Jets need to see if they can restructure his deal so they can try him out at defensive end. If they aren't going to get anything in return and doesn't prevent another signing (or resigning) they might as well try him out there.

DRob will not restructure, forcing the Jets him. As a FA, he can determine where he goes, and to the highest bidder.

Thanks for nothing!!

If he was willing to restructure, he probably would've already.
The thing is, he may be learning that his best financial deal, is reworking his Jets contract, since even desperate teams are passing on him.

Your right Rob....D-Robertson will be cut before he's due that roster bonus. His agents probably already got another deal worked out with either Denver, Detroit or Cincy, he'll sign somewhere right after he's cut.

Great call!! .. I always - in my heart - thought Blair Thomas (Ron Faurot?) was the worst pick ever (Johnny Mitchell) but the pick of (Mike Haight) has to be the VERY (Johnny Lam Jones) was the absolute worst (Jeff Lageman) # 1 pick we've ever had .. easy .. (Roger Vick)

this is not to mention the years we traded our #1 pick for something stupid (start your own list here)

I guess we could lump in the players we passed up. I think Lageman ended up as a seviceable player for someone after we got rid of him, maybe Carolina? But, that's another arument all together. Remember Hugh Douglass? Didn't need him.

Bradway and Herm, we hate you both.

- Jets Fans

Jeff, truer words were never spoken.

As usual the Jets who have no class are trying to trade away a player who can't even pass a physical. Heres to the worst fans and organization in all of pro sports the NY-NJ Jets Losers

Then please tell us, Mr Youhavenoclass, in your infinite wisdom what would you do with D-Rob and his contract situation?

How about the report in the Post that the Jets are close to a deal with Coles? Good to see Rock's keeping up.

The Post article doesn't say anything about the Jets and Coles being close retard.
