Jets ink Hofstra's McMackin, a camp invitee, to contract

The third and final day of the Jets rookie minicamp is in the books and nothing from the field to report as Day 3 was closed to the media. I can tell you, according to a source, that one of the players the Jets liked was Hofstra offensive lineman Shawn McMackin, a tryout invitee who signed a contract with the team late this morning. More of those players who have signed deals, hopefully, to come.

The 6-4, 295-pound McMackin, a River Vale, N.J. native, is versatile, not to mention bull-strong. He is listed as a guard but during his Hofstra career, coaches at some point plugged McMackin in at every offensive line position.
