The Jets have not officially announced it as yet but, it was confirmed elsewhere, fifth-round pick Erik Ainge has signed a four-year deal with the team. That leaves the Jets with just two of their six draft picks unsigned. The team will likely make the announcement later this afternoon, probably while I'm at Bethpage Black watching the final few holes of the New York State Open (Some people go to the beach. Whatever). First-round picks Vernon Gholston and Dustin Keller have not signed but it is expected both will be on the field when camp gets underway a week from today.

Had to get that golf thing in there, didn't you?
Boland, KFFL is reporting this from your blog:

Erik Boland, of New York Newsday, reports New York Jets TE Dustin Keller is expected to sign before the team begins its training camp next week.
Our ducks are starting to line up.
Any truth to the rumor that Neil O'Donnell is available if we can't get Favre?
Just to add to what dmb88886 reported, KFFL is also reporting the following:
Jets | Baker unlikely to be traded

Erik Boland, of New York Newsday, reports that it is highly unlikely that New York Jets TE Chris Baker will be traded prior to the start of the regular season.

RC Meany,
I thought O'Donnell was busy throwing passes to the '96 Cowboys. Glen Foley is warming his arm up as we speak.
This has nothing to do with Erik Ainge.. but the Giants showed their final PSL plans... RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!!

Nice that they're reporting my speculation. What are you going to do...
"Nice that they're reporting my speculation. What are you going to do..."
Boland, you MUST then speculate that Barrett will get cut, KFFL will report it, then maybe it will take on some momentum, maybe Barrett will see it freak out and ask to be traded (for a few dirty footballs which is asking WAY too much). PLEASE do it. If not for me, just so you don't have to hear me talking about Barrett on your blog anymore.
Boland, I really think that in a few years, Erik Ainge can definitely develop into a solid backup NFL quarterback. He has the size, smarts and he was a four year starter at Tennessee. We'll see what happens...
I am on board also with Ainge. I thought it was a good pick up and he could develope into a solid starter down the road.
John Z, for some reason I didn't see your golf crack until just now! We just aren't going to make you a golf convert I guess...
dmb, maybe we can set you up with Barrett for a personal autograph session.
Bryan and Ira, add Ainge to the huge list of interesting training camp stories to follow for this team.
And RC Meany and Mr. Green T, reading you two go back and forth is the blog equivalent of dueling banjos.
Erik, I forgot to mention Ratliff who has really no chance except to make the practice squad again. Funny thing is he has the best arm out of all the QB's. But we all know a live arm[Nagle} doesn't make you a lock to make it in the NFL.
