It's pouring rain at Hofstra but the Jets will NOT be in the bubble and the workout, scheduled to start at 8:45 a.m., is still open to the public so if you were planning to come out, do so! But bring appropriate gear. I didn't, which is entirely my fault. I'm single and dressed myself.
I digress. More to your interest than me getting soaked, because of the weather, both the Jets Shop Tent and GenJets Fest are closed for this morning but should be open this afternoon.
As for our schedule here, Eric Mangini will address the media at 11:30 a.m. and we'll do player interviews as players come off the field following the first practice. So I'll have a practice update from the morning sometime in the 12:30-1 p.m. range. Word around here is that progress was made last night on the Gholston front but no deal as yet.

Dave Hutchinson, of The Star-Ledger, reports the New York Jets are close to a contract with rookie LB Vernon Gholston. Gholston could be on the practice field as early as Thursday, July 24, or Friday, July 25. The stumbling block in contract talks is that Gholston wants a five-year deal and the Jets want him to sign a six-year contract, according to someone with knowledge of the negotiations.
And though he's saying they are close, the 5 to 6 year difference as we all now know from experience can be a very big hurdle.
5 or 6 year deal? Are you kidding me?! If he out plays his contract he'll want a new one in 3 years. If he's a bust, the JETS will bail in 3 years. Give me a break already and get the kid in there before we trade him to New Orleans or Washington.
