A new punter joins the fray

As those of you who listened in on Eric Mangini's morning presser know, the new Jets punter is Reggie Hodges.

The 6-foot, 226-pound Hodges was originally selected by the Rams in the sixth round of the 2005 draft and was signed to the Patriots practice squad Sept. 4 of this year. He was released Sept. 8. More on him later and Mangini's presser and the time we spent in the locker room. But it's time to head to practice. Maybe we'll see Hodges kick a few. Oh, and Mangini said Hodges would take over holder duties. A commenter asked about that before.

If you read up on this guy, seems like when he has made a team, he has failed miserably. And other times, he did not even make it past final cuts.

Wonder if this move was made to annoy New England more than anything.

Erik,
I agree with you this is a game they could win. You're right Schotty is on the watch this week but is he being handcuffed by Eric? I don't think so. This team was built to run but more important Favre and the rest of the offense are not on the same page yet. They will get there but its going to take time. get to the bye at 3-1 or 2-2 and then the offense will be ready to rock and roll.GO JETS!!!!

Going to be in Vegas for Monday night. Hmmm, who should I put my money on? Bet with my heart? I really haven't seen a lot from this coaching staff to be willing to bet money on. It's time they stop making players run laps for screwing up and pull them out of the game. Most of these players have goals to reach in their contracts to get more cash. You start messing with that and they'll shape up. No more 12 men on the field crap! That really irks me.

The team has definately improved on D. I think they waited to long to get Westoff back and now you can see it.

EB, at some point it has to be pointed out that this team was 4-12 last season. We don't need to use the same play book as the Super Bowl teams. We need to be more creative and daring. Try to catch the play book teams off with our creativeness. Try to make this point to Mangini. I really like him as a coach, but he needs to stop trying to be a mini Bellichek and get his own identity.

Mike from bumpass- I agree that we don't need the same playbook as Super Bowl teams, but what ever the play book is,we need to execute better, stop with the dumb penalties- 12 men OTF is a excellent example...If what you mean by creative & daring is to allow Favre take to the air-- then yes-- even at 39 he still has more then half the other QB in this league & is capable of winning a game by himself...but he can't do it handing the ball off...The Jets made the trade & should use him; I don't know a thing about gambling, except that if you bet the Chargers, how can you root for the Jets Monday, when you'll be rooting for the $$. Whatever team you chose, lets hope the Jets win.

Maybe we can re-sign Tony Meola?

AHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH!!!!!!
