Exciting news.
Starting Sept. 15 Campus Confidential takes a step outside of the World Wide Web and hits outer space. To be more specific, I'll be on XM Satellite Radio every Saturday starting in two weeks.
If you have XM, you better be listening to Channel 144. Saturdays are dedicated to college football and "College Football Coast to Coast" comes on after the SEC Game of the Week. If you don't have XM, get it. Check this out for more info (scroll down).
Exciting stuff. I'll bring you more details as I figure it all out!
What do I think about Virginia Tech? A lot have been asking.
Well, first, I think Sean Glennon played a decent game. He attempted 33 passes, four of which I'm sure he'd like back. Maybe 5. I thought he made some good throws. Everyone wants to point to the first interception, but that was a play where the safety was supposed to bite and he would look up to a wide open post route, but it didn't work out that way. He had an open man on the drag he didn't throw to right away, but that's a mistake many quarterbacks will make. Overall, I'll grade his outing a B-.
Second, the offensive line is bad. I've already said this, but it's worth repeating. It could be a long year in Blacksburg if things don't change along that line. It was pretty much the theme of the press conference after the game. LSU's front seven will destroy Tech. Glenn Dorsey is dreaming about Saturday night.
Third, there isn't as much depth as I thought.
I'm just not sold on this VT team.
I was on my flight this morning watching my sweet DirecTV. Rob Parker from the Detroit News is a boob. When asked if football had passed Bobby Bowden by, he replies with an emphatic "yes" and throws out some lame Early Bird Special at Shoney's line.
Bowden's been at the school 48 years. He can do whatever he wants and the school would be okay with it. Oh, Florida State was ACC Champions two seasons ago. Wrong.
Parker goes on to say it's possible he can't recruit anymore and that could contribute. That players don't buy the "come play for Papa Bowden" anymore. Yet, Florida State has had Top 15 classes like five of the last six years. Wrong again.
Then he says that Bowden is more of a figurehead and that the coordinators are running the program. If that's the case, then it doesn't matter if football has passed him by. It's irrelevant.
He finished with some Shoney's line again and Skip Bayless, who had to think the camera is just on Dana Jacobson rolls his eyes and makes some rude hand gesture at Parker as he's talking. He obviously doesn't like this dude.
I never know riding on a plane could be so much fun.
Tried to get Ray Rice on the phone this week for a Q&A, but it's going to wait a week. I promise I'll have it all good to go this week.
