So what happened with the common courtesy to report the opposing player's touchdowns in Suffolk high school football games? Don't all high school coaches have the opposing teams rosters? Aren't there official scorers at these games? What is happening to the integrity of the Suffolk County Football Coaches Association?
The players look forward to reading the newspaper or the web site to find their names and they're being cheated by a few coaches who find it unnecessary to do their job. Public relations is a part of a high school coach's job. Joe Cipp Jr. and Paul Longo should teach a course on how to promote a program and get the word out. For years, those guys have done a wonderful job in letting the media and colleges know about their programs.
There is a terrible trend that has started here over the past few years.
I find that coaches who are burned one year find it amusing to get revenge in another year. It's already happened twice this season. And both coaches were confronted and admittedly said, "He never calls in the right scorers when he wins, so neither do we."
That attitude and practice absolutely puts the credibility of the coaches in question. It also diminishes our ability to give our readers a complete package of highlights. No one wants to read that No. 12 threw a touchdown pass to No. 45. That's ridiculous. Be professional and treat the opposing team with the same respect you want your players treated. There's no excuse to cheat an opposing player of a highlight that he's worked so hard to achieve. How would a coach like it done to his own son, and a perfectly exciting opportunity was wasted because someone was just plain lazy?
Hopefully we can improve from this point on. We'll see if they care enough.

[ the beast from the east] is the absolute finest {2} way football player i' ve ever seen! he can do anything.he will not under any conditions allow his team to lose.he can will them a victory.he should be selected to the h.s. all- america team- as a starter ! brock can do anything.he's worth the price of admission.he has the x plus; that which separates the good from the great! he will be remembered as a football legend!!
The dog is right. The kid is exciting. He gets it done everywhere on the football field. And what an articulate kid. This is where football player meets exemplary student meets team player. He's got it all.
Gregg you are right about the common courtesy
reporting the acuracy of the game. Everyone looks for the correct results and to have both teams written up -win or loose. Its like reading the highlights of the pros, everyone reads it.And as parents of players and players themselves they also would like to read the print.
What makes the difference for any player is to get reconigition when they perform well. Especially if thay are being scouted by colleges. Its the write up that go a long way its the credentials, the next morning that scout reads the paper and reads about that individual that they are interested in recruiting and he cuts out the article and saves it. Its about scholarship money. and for coaches to deny a player an opportunity of a life time to get a scholarship for education through Athletics its unfair. As a coach you need to be true to your self and to the game and players of all teams, especially players.
Hey what about that Quarterback from Deer park still racking up the rushing game in
Suffolk County D-11
game 1 -101 yards
game 2 -281 yards
game 3 -155 yards
game 4 -112 yards
Total 649 yards
needs 87 yards per game for the next 4 games to break 1,000 yards as a quarterback.
As the wife of a head varsity football coach; I'm not suprised by the egos and back-stabbing, I've seen it. Honestly speaking most coaches are great, but there are far too many that think they are equal to "football's greats", and are willing to sabotage a kids excitement for some personal grudge. Grow up and remember the real reason you are coaching the boys; if it's for personal glory than you're in it for the wrong reasons; it's not about you, it's about them!!
