Non-Leagues Galore!

BY CHRIS MASCARO

Hey everyone, hope you enjoyed a full weekend of lacrosse. In girls lax, there was an abundance of non-league matchups, which helped cement these rankings:

1. Garden City
2. West Babylon
3. Northport
4. Farmingdale
5. Shoreham-Wading River
6. North Babylon
7. Manhasset
8. Massapequa
9. Rocky Point
10. North Shore

...which we unveiled in this post a few days ago.

On Friday night, Farmingdale handed Rocky Point its first loss of the season. Then Manhasset defeated St. Anthony's on Saturday as part of the Lacrosse Day of Champions. And yesterday, Shoreham-Wading River played its first game outside of Division II and beat Bay Shore on the road, 14-9.

A couple of conclusions from these scores: First, both Rocky Point and Shoreham-Wading River are two very talented teams, and the Division II title will — yet again — come down to their game at SWR on May 1. Next, St. Anthony's is a very good team, but not quite ready to break the Suffolk top-10.

They proved they are the best CHSAA team around yesterday afternoon, and they have some impressive wins over Cold Spring Harbor and Ward Melville. But a tie with Kellenberg and losses to Massapequa and Manhasset keep the Friars on the outside looking in for now.

This week's rankings will be unveiled in the girls lacrosse insider on Thursday. So be on the lookout. That day, we'll also post the new L.I. rankings here on the blog.
