South Side is for real, no doubt about it.
The Cyclones sent Nassau Class B spinning with a, 10-9, win over nationally-ranked Garden City on Saturday. It is South Side's first ever win over the Trojans.
“It definitely gives our kids tremendous confidence to know we can actually beat them," coach Steve DiPietro said.
The finish was wild.
Colin Serling scored a behind-the-back goal with second left off a pass from Nick O'Reilly to give South Side (5-0) the win. O'Reilly had made a move to the net, had to back away from a double team and then found Serling on the right side. Serling was pushed away from the goal and no other option but to shoot from behind his back.
"The kids made an all-American play and those are our best two players," DiPietro said.
Garden City (4-1) scored three-straight times capped by Francis McDonough's second goal with 1:18 left to tie the score at 9.
Serling won 14 of 18 faceoffs including the one to earn the final possession. Pat Tighe scored three of his five goals in the third quarter for South Side.

the SS boys won the game dispite the fact the coach doesn't know enought to take time off the clock. it will be the boys that win anything this year not the coach, Way out coach yet agian. SS is lucky to have it player beacuse the coaching won't get it done
I would hope that SouthSide would be ranked higher in the Nassau COunty LAx world now.
