Okay, well in last week's Suffolk game of the week, Ward Melville earned a much-needed 18-13 win over Lindenhurst on Friday. This week, we're going to go with Comsewogue at Huntington tomorrow afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
Right now, Huntington (4-6), a Class B finalist from last season, is on the outside looking in on the playoff picture right now, and Comsewogue is one of two 6-4 teams (Islip is the other) ahead of Huntington in the standings. Should be fun.
Okay, that's all for now. Should be a good week of lacrosse with the playoffs right around the corner.
Kerri Kilkenny on the season: "I think it hasn’t all happened right in the beginning of the season. But if we win the next five, we’ll be 8-6, which isn’t too shabby. The competition really came in the early part of the season. It’s unfortunate that we’ve had this kind of season."
Coach on Makenzie Hommel: "I think she brings leadership. What we have been missing is her spark on the field to get everyone riled up. We haven’t had that spark plug, not just skill-wise, but leadership-wise, and her whole attitude.”
On the broken relationship of Granger and Hommel due to Hommel's injury: “They are quite a dynamic duo, but I don’t ever like to base a team around one or two kids.I never thought, ‘oh, Kenzie’s out, so the season is thrown to the wayside.'"
More on the season: "You have good years, bad years, years when you’re on top because you’re stacked."
Assistant coach Erin Blaney on switching roles with Kilkenny before this season and this year's team: “It's the same staff, we just kind of changed titles. Kerri does a great job, it’s just a matter of some experience and getting them to gel.”

How about a little article on Bayport Girl's Lacrosse. They are 8-2 in Division II and have had big wins this season against Mt.Sinai, Hauppauge and Comsewogue. The goalie Kerry Stoothoff is also leading Suffolk County in the # of saves and has a .590 save pct.-she's attending Loyola on a lax scholarship, and we have a couple of other girls CJ Acker, Mackenzie Baker and Laura McLean who have signed to play in college. We also have a freshman Loren Generi who's among the scoring leaders.
Our school district and coach are lame when it comes to promoting their athletes. no PR at all... I've already spoken to the AD and there's been no change. The girl's really deserve some recognition. HELP!!!!!
