DiPietro focused on starting season

BY KATIE STRANG

Islanders goaltender Rick DiPietro said he's had a slow summer while rehabbing his left knee, but one particular date has kept him motivated and focused -- the season opener against the Devils.

"I'm not so worried about being 100 percent for training camp, I'm more worried about being ready October 10," DiPietro said at an interview and autograph session in Manhattan Wednesday. "I'm really optimistic and hellbent on being there for the first game."

DiPietro, who had an arthroscopic procedure in June, also underwent season-ending surgery on his right hip (his left hip was operated on the previous year) in March. While some have worried about his durability, especially so early into his 15-year contract, DiPietro said it's "tough calling them injuries," and that they represent normal "wear and tear" more than anything.

DiPietro said his knee took top priority this summer, and that his hip wasn't his biggest concern. "It's the second one I've had done, and it's definitely bothered me," DiPietro said. "The All-Star Game was definitely the pinnacle of the injury, but the left one felt great last year after I had [the procedure] done, the right one feels fantastic now, and as bad as it was not making the playoffs, it was good to have that extra month to get that out of the way."

Known as a fierce competitor who can barely stand watching games from the bench, DiPietro said he hopes last season's injuries won't translate to less ice time or a more stringent monitoring of his workload.

"I've said it before, but I want to play every game," DiPietro said. "We'll see what they have in store, but all I can control is trying to play well and force their hand."

One person he'll have to convince is the Islanders' new coach, Scott Gordon.

"Everyone I've talked to who has played for him has absolutely loved him," DiPietro said. "He's young, he's energetic, he's determined to win at all costs, and he's really focused on figuring out what we need to do to be successful, get us an identity right off the bat, and continue to hold guys accountable."

From what DiPietro has read about Gordon's plans for the team, he's looking forward to the upcoming season.

"He wants to put in a fast, up-tempo style and a lot of pressure, and that's good," DiPietro said. "We're going to have a young team, a fast team, and that's going to be exciting."

Uh Oh. And we're going to have a problem. Can he please just get it through his head that he SHOULDN'T play every game. It doesn't matter if he WANTS to. He SHOULDN'T. I hear they had microphone problems Katie during the Q&A. Too bad.

I agree 7th woman. I have no problem with him wanting to play every game....but I do expect a PROFESSIONAL athlete to accept when the coacing staff want him to sit....His job is to stop pucks AND NOT GET CAUGHT OUT OF POSITION TRYING TO PLAY TOO MANY PUCKS!!!! But he is one of the best keepers in the league.... and for those who don't think so look around... how would you like the goalies on LA, Tor, Ott, not to mention others... if he's healthy and listens we will be just fine.... maybe not a playoff team, but exciting to watch.

Rick may want every game, but, if he cares about TEAM, he wont fight down time. He must realize his team is weak and the future, a solid three years from now, is his chance at winning. Why beat yourself down now? The mass...not sure what makes this team exciting aside from the soap opera aspect.
Your turn troll...

Dipietro says the Isles will be young. With 9 players over 30, I don't think so. And they aren't fast either.

Fast and young? The Islanders? Really? I think those head injuries are getting to him. Finally.
Regardless if the team is going to be good tomorrow or 3 years from now, DP is stuck. He'll have to spend the next 7 to 8 years praying to be traded for a chance to win the cup.
But really folks, the team is gone in a year or two. Hamilton here they come!

fast? how so?

I realize it's the job of the PR Dept. to put a positive spin on situations, but I never bought into the "we're going to be younger" facade. While the team will have 9 of its skaters over 30, of the youngsters, only Okposo is an "A" prospect, plus there is currently very little currently at Bridgeport. It remains to be seen what will develop form this year's draft class, but I agree with the Hockey News that Snow erred in tradinfgdown to #9. As the saying goes, you can't make chicken salad out of chicken feathers & unfortunately for suffering Isles fans, we have too many feathers.

I can't wait for training camp to begin. Our GM had done a great job in the draft, and has signed some cracker jack free agents. Ownership is doing all they can to upgrade the Coliseum, and I can't wait until 2012 to see the results.

Coach Gordon-best of luck in the upcoming season. I know you'll bring refreshing new ideas to the Islanders. I won't bore you with my expertise or opinion because I know you're a professional, and know what you are doing.

GM Snow-I've got your back buddy! Keep up the good work. I can't wait to see the Isle's sip bubbly out of the Cup again real soon.

Fellow Bloggers-Let's all of us give our support for our home team in blue and orange.

Bizzaro...See a SHRINK soon...Life is short wee one! At least this time you were funny!

Re: Bizzaro Steady:

...

Are the following possibilities that far fetched:
1. Gordon gets his team prepared and motivated better than Nolan did. I thought Nolan did a fine job, but there is definitely room for improvement... starting with the PP.
2. Streit sparks the PP and makes the team that much more entertaining.
3. Comrie's injuries have healed and he becomes that #1 center that most of us thought he had the potential to become last year.
4. Okposo's plays with Bergie's zest and Guerin's guile and is a solid 20-25 goal second line forward.
5. Weight and Guerin find some chemistry and both have improved seasons.
6. Campoli comes of age and is the puck mover and offensive threat he showed glimpses of as a rookie.
7. DP plays an injury free 65 games and wins 30 of them...
8. Somebody like Hillen or Figren are a mid season spark that gets the team fired up for holiday rush into playoff contention.
9. Tambellini gets it... and he finds his way to a healthy 20 goal season.
10. Hunter is unleashed with less defensive responsibilities and goes back to that 20+ goal guy we kind of expected him to be.

And when Snow's phone rings at the deadline it is somebody who needs a second line center for 20 games and wants to give up a 2nd round pick or a 220lb defenseman that can skate. Or maybe they are looking for a starting goalie that is tied up for 10 years, and they are having problems with the agent of their can't miss 40 goal scorer....

I know we are repeatedly bashed for attendance but always keep in mind. It could be worse!

SEE A SHRINK FAKE BOY !!! GET A LIFE !!!

i appreciate the efforts and the summary above however we need exposure that is indicative of the resources pumped into cover the Isles. I understand that the root base of revenue is not there but something has to keep the ball rolling. BD's artices on hockeybuzz dont deliver much more that the well informed die hard fan woul, lots of fluff(opinions, subjective) rather than insight and credible news. maybe its just the time of year but it is dead on the hockey horizon. i would really appreciate comments on this. cheers

To whomever is posting as me, please stop. Those who know me can recognize imposter messages. You are ruining this forum for those who want to actually USE it to talk HOCKEY and not spam it with junk.

The "possibilities" laid out by JP are all very relaistic taken separately. The problem is that for a successfull season to happen all or most must take place. The alignment of the planet's must be just right. But each "possibility" taken on its own, has merit. Remember he didn't say they were probabilities.

Our "possibilites" are going to playing against other teams...their "possibilites" include Ovechkin, Crosby, Lecavalier, etc. I'd like to see a winning season as much as anyone, but reality is reality. I might win the lottery, but I'm not basing my financial decisions on it.

JP- get a grip. While I'm hoping for a competitive season, your hopes are based in fantasy land. Of your outlined possibilities, there's a better chance that none will occur. There may be a chance for Okposo to score 20-25 goals. We were 29th in the League on the powerplay last year, so it will be almost impossible not to improve. Some people need to get their feet on the ground with regard to expectations. Of all the prognostications I've been reading, the highest the Isles are rated is #27 in the entire League- and it's not because the hockey media doesn't like the Islanders. Until the young guys make contributions they are just prospects. When compared to other teams, just who are we better than other than Atlanta and maybe Toronto, St. Louis & LA? If the Islanders finish anywhere other than last in the Atlantic, I'll be stunned. We just don't have the horses & the young colts have yet to prove anything.

JP

I love your wish list.
Print it out and keep it handy for a revisit at some point.
Those are noble goals.

If we get 7-8 of them, it's a successful season.
(Although I would rather see DP win 40 out of 65 games and not 30-hey a guy can dream).

Steady,
Nice call on Snow for Prez.
I still think the Isles should sign Levi Johnston.
The thought of Brinkley, Palin and Duff (my age, younger and yummer) in the stands is staggering.

This team will be faster than last years team. Tambellini, Neilsen and Comeau are all faster skaters than Satan, Tank, and Joe V. Does anyone dispute that?
Streit is the fastest skater of the D men. Anyone doubt that?

I am doubtful that Joe Mac is faster than Dubie, though.

JP... a lot of your points are realistic and hopefully obtainable. The second half of the season will be the name of this tune. We should see a slower start but a much improved second half if thing go according to plan. If this bunch grows into a team by Jan
it could be a fun, entertaining season. If not, there's always versus to watch.......Sir William

SIXTH MAN..."venemous lie"??? Hey buddy, the Canadian press has always downplayed the Islanders achievements. They have always resented the upstart team that won the Cup four years in a row and won 19 straight playoff series.

That's not a "venemous lie" as you so hysterically put it. The Canadian hockey press has always boasted of the pre '80's Montreal teams and the mid '80's Oilers teams.

In my opinion the Montreal teams always had an advantge because of the "territorial rights" and the fact the they had to win one playoff series to gain the Cup finals. How many Cups have they won since the league expanded.

As for the Oilers, they were a great team. I can't imagine what it would cost in todays dollars to meet that payroll.

The Oilers and the Islanders are 1-1A in the history of the NHL's
greatest teams. Since they only met twice in the finals, with each team winning once, it's strictly opinion as to who was the better team...........Sir William

Hey Dummies....My comments were not anti Canadian. They were anti Canadian Hockey Press. The Canadian HOCKEY Press and COMMENTATORS have never given the Islanders their just due. So don't go wrapping yourselves in the Maple Leaf. It was never about the Canadian PEOPLE, just the hockey writers and TV commentators.

Second, What does this have to do with Orr vs Potvin? I saw both play in person many, many times and feel that Potvin was the more complete package. Bobby Orr never scared anyone with blistering hip checks the was Denis did. And if the Canadiens had mangaged to sucker Bill Torrey into making that trade there would be a statue of Denis Potvin outside the Molson Center right now.
That's my opinion. That's all. Nothing to do with the Canadian hockey press or comentators.

As for "teritorial rights" being brief read this:

Prior to the 1960s, there was no NHL amateur draft. The recruitment of prospects was simply a matter of first come, first served. The Montreal Canadiens ensured they were first served by establishing perhaps the greatest farm system in sports history, with junior and senior teams on the prairies, minor pro teams in the U.S. and entire leagues in Quebec. The Leafs operated a similar network in Ontario and beyond. All players signed to those teams remained the exclusive propoerty of the NHL "sponsor" team until they were released or traded.

Prior to 1967, the Leafs and Canadiens held a further advantage. According to A Thinking Man's Guide to Pro Hockey, by Gerry Eskenazi, published in 1973, each NHL franchise had exclusive rights to players within its 50-mile territorial limits. So the Leafs and Canadiens could browse the neighbourhood rinks near Toronto and Montreal at their leisure, while the Rangers had a lock on the next great goalie from Hoboken.

Most of these advantages disappeared in 1963 with the introduction of the amateur draft. But the Leafs and Canadiens continued to benefit from players developed under the old system well into the 1970s.

So in effect, it was like me starting a football team and taking all the Division 1 players and letting you have all the Division 2 players. Montreal won exactly 2 Cups after the (86 and 93) after the playing field was leveled.

When I began to watch hockey there was ONE American player. His name was Tommie Williams and he was a novelty act with the Boston Bruins. Every other player was Canadian. And the Habs and the Leafs had their pick of the litter. No wonder they won most of the Cups between them prior to 1980.

Now go ahead and tell me that none of this is true and that it's all
anti Canadian bias.

THEMASS...Go back and read what I wrote. No one is lumping every single Canadian as anything. I said the Canadian hockey writers had never given the Isles their due, NOT all Canadians.
There are plenty of Isles fans in Canada. Some of them post here regularly. So I am not "angry" about anything except your lack of reading comprehension.

And let's go back to Billy Smiths comment after beating the Oilers for the Cup. What was it he said about plenty of people in Canada .Go look it up...........Sir William

Man, there are some real dumbasses here. Saying that the Canadian hockey press has not given the Islanders their just due has caused one moron to call it a "venemous lie ", another "Anti Canadian", a third "dishonest and angry" and finally another says that I have "hidden agenda." and am spreading "hateful lies."

These knuckleheads need to get over themselves and grow up. A comment on the Canadian hockey press is just that....a comment. If you disagree that's your right. Then disagree.

To engage in such juvenile hysteria is just way over the top. If you have a different opinion, then state it. Or my "hidden agenda" will get you...........Sir William

above was not me......More of the troll !

Logan all this troll stuff is ONE GUY !! Get rid of all of his nonsensical and childish comments. Also send him info. on a good SHRINK

SW....I actually agree with your views on the Canadian PRESS.....Look no further than Collin Campbell aka The Chief and his comments as a Vancouver Canuck and a Ranger Coach.....He had more "I hate the Islanders" quotes than anyone. Now he runs the show. Must hate us for all the WHOOPINGS handed down on him by Gillies.

Look at his suspensions handed down to Islanders players and then go look at vidoe tape of players HE let slide.

Look at old video tapes of Smitty and things he said after and during the cup years.

Canadians were and are a great franchise. Yet, how much of their success came with 8 teams in the league and before players moved around ??? Do not get more wrong...They have won since then. It is not like they are the pathetic Ranger franchise that has been around forever and has done nothing.

The Isles 4 CUPS in a row and playing in a 5th, NEVER got the true credit it deserved in the NHL spotlight b/c they were not an original 8 and b/c they wer not in Canada. Simple Facts !!

You ignorant fool....To bring up Sept 11th in such a petty conversation shows how lost you truly are.

What does any of that have to do with the fact that the MEDIA, which I CLEARLY stated, was bias against the great Isles dynasty?

p.s Having lost friends and having watched what it did to family in the Police Dept. in and after Sept. 11th, be very careful what you write. YES, there are ways to find out who you are. You are way out of bounds!

As for being thankful...Sure the whole world should be thankful. Canada should be thankful daily for having the USA watch their borders.

ISLES FAN IN NJ..and QUENNEVILLE...Here is the ENTIRE quote "If you read Canadian sites then you must know how much bias there is against those Islander Cup Teams in Canada.
The Canadian media hated the Isles because they took the Cup away from Canada and held it for so long. They threatened the Montreal record of five straight Cups and they beat the Edmonton Oilers when no one in Canada thought that they could.

The Canadian MEDIA is clearly referrenced. Nice of you to leve that part out.

MR GLOVE..Billy Smith's comment are well known to anyone who ever actually attended an Islander game, where they are played on the Jumbotron repeatedly. Try it sometime.

STEADY ... I know your with me brother, but the original laeague was only SIX teams four of which made the playoffs.

LINDY.....The players that were signed as young kids still played for Montreal during the Cup years in the seventies. Want proof?

Yvan Cournyer, Jacques Lemaire, Jimmy Roberts. and Serge Savard all played for the Montreal teams that won Cups in the SIXTIES and later in the SEVENTIES.
In addition Sam Pollack was able to unload some of his fading sixties players on expansion teams for high draft picks (Seals # 1 pick who turned into Guy LaFleur) Ralph Backstrom to the LA Kings insuring that the Kings finished ahead of the Seals that year
thus making LaFluer available for the Canadiens. And on and on.

Let's hear from all you Colin Cambell fans out there. He is the epitome of what I am referring to.......Sir William

I am not taking any sides here, but being a Canadian I will state the following. Noone in Canada (including the media) really give the Isles any credit. Guys like ex players (healy) even take their shots on CBC. The medias seems to recall the recent 15 years over anything. Potvin, Bossy etc are given their due however it does not equal the Kudos that the Oilers receive. Overall in my opinion the ISLANDERS ARE SEVERELY UNDERRATED IN CANADA, ALWAYS WILL BE, TOO BAD.

I think the media knows that the talent level during the early 1980's was putrid. The Isles basically won 4 Cups due to a classic case of lack of competition. The league became more competitive during the mid to late 80's and just about every Islander player was done by their early 30's. The league got faster and Isles players could not compete any longer. Look it up. Islander players couldn't compete during their early 30' and were forced out by a faster, more competitive league.

The "Debunking" article is nonsense written by one die hard Montreal fan. Heres a cut and paste that really explains it better:

"However, It was soon realized that the league had no real competitive balance. Save for four Cup wins by the Red Wings’ dynasty of the early 1950s and the 1961 triumph by the Chicago Blackhawks, most Stanley Cup titles from 1944-67 was won by either the Maple Leafs or the Canadiens. Because of special territorial rights granted to the teams, the Leafs and Canadiens always saw the best prospects come to them. There was no draft at the time, so young prospects signed with whatever team made an offer—or the best offer. Because almost all of the talent in the league was Canadian, the Leafs and Canadiens were the sentimental favourites for most young stars."

That quote is from (SURPRISE)...THE EDMONTON OILERS HERITAGE WEBSITE...........SIR WILLIAM

http://www.oilersheritage.com/history/formation_leagues_NHL.html

Sorry, it's just a fact. Just about every Islander player from the so called Dynasty was relatively done (or a shadow of himself) by the time they reached their early 30's. When the league got faster, when the Eastern Bloc players ame older, the Islanders as a team could not compete any longer.

Gillies- dumpred by the Isles by age 31- couldn't score, too slow for a faster league

Bourne- his game dropped significantly by age 31, sent packing

Trottier- went from an 80 point score to a 40 pint scorer overnight, released by the Isles and went to Pittsburgh to win faceoffs

Brent Sutter- couldn't acore by age 31

Jonsson- back to Sweden by age 30

D Sutter- out of hockey by age 30 or so

Langevin- league got faster, players started skating around him, dumped by the Isles by age 30

This are just facts. Bossy couldn't take the pounding any longer early in his 30's forced to retire.

S.W........LOL....I just went and read my post where I put ORIGINAL 8 ...... Meanwhile I was wearing an Origianl 6 T shirt while writing that... :) :) My bad.

p.s the 17:12 was obviously not me....Troll boy!

The Isles signed Jack Hillen... sure you've got the right guy?

Congrats Jay. Your comments are by far the dumbest I have ever read.

If the talent got better how come Edmonton won 4 cups? How come hockey has gond down hill since the early 80's?

Jay...Most people who know anything about hockey will tell you that the Isles players wore down because of all the extra playoff games they were involved in. The solid core of 16 players went through 20 playoff series in a row in the five years that thay went to the finals.

It was simply a matter of their bodies taking all that playoff pressure and punishment while the rest of the league had a chance to recover. It finally caught up to them as it would have to anyone who was human.........Sir William

Sir William ... add to your last post .... the fact ... as our new fearless leader Scott Gordon pointed out ... When Gretzky passed the Isles locker room after the Isles beat them for the Cup in 1983 .. the Isles weren't celebrating ... they were icing up ... the bumps and bruises ... and it was then that #99 realized what it took to win ... I'm paraphrasing of course.

Happy September folks... almost that time.

I come back from a biz trip this weekend and lol at 19:01 post by "anonymous'. Steady, could you be any more transparent? Man, you are an insecure lad.

No...The real funny thing is Anti saying he went away on a business trip. Now that is funny. Since when do Gas attendants travel?

ANTI STEADY FAN..........Yes we do live in the internet age. But we always didn't. Here's a lesson for you.

Back in the days when the Isles began their run to the four staraight Cups., there was no internet. Computers belonged to IBM or MIT. No one had them in their homes. Websites did not exist. In fact, there were no all sports talk radio shows. WFAN and ESPN did not exist. Where I lived in Queens there was no cable TV back in 1979. In fact, to watch Islander or Ranger playoff games, one had to travel into Manhattan or out to Nassau County. Most homes were not wired for cable back then. It was either the Dublin Pub in Nassau or the Blarney Stone in Manhattan to watch hockey on TV.

This may be hard for you to beleive, but the main sources for hockey information were in print. Thta's right. You actually had to go out and buy the Hockey News, Sports Illustrated, The Sporting News or Sport magazine and then actually read them. Only the Hockey News really focused on the NHL. The rest just gave passing referrences to hockey, concentrating more on the other three major sports (as did most of the U.S.).

The daily newspapers were of some help, but mainly were about the Rangers in the merto area. Occassional games were broadcast on regular TV, but they were few and far between.

The main source of hockey info was AM radio, which broadcast interviews of various hockey writers between periods of games.
There was lots of anti Islander bias broadcast then. The "Big Whistle" was especially good at it (Yes, he was American) but plenty of his interviews were of our friends up north.

So. Mr Anti, there are no links to these interviews or old Hockey News articles. You can search if you like , but I doubt that you'll find any. I know that this is really hard for you to swallow but there really was life before the internet came into being......Sir William

What is even funnier is that Anti says he was away on business when all the nonsense on this board with trolls was going on, and just got back to write stuff?

Well internet boy, ever her of a lap top? No internet service in the Motel Eights ?

Sir William just a few corrections to your 02:42 post.

"Computers belonged to IBM or MIT. No one had them in their homes."
In the early 1980's I owned an Apple computer - in my *GASP* home.

"In fact, there were no all sports talk radio shows. WFAN and ESPN did not exist."

There was 1050 WHN I believe who had a 24/7 sportstalk just before they turned into a country/western music station in the late 70's early 80's.

"Where I lived in Queens there was no cable TV back in 1979. In fact, to watch Islander or Ranger playoff games, one had to travel into Manhattan or out to Nassau County."

We got cable in Flushing in 1985 so you are correct there however all one had to do to watch a Ranger game (regular season and playoffs) was turn on channel 9 WWOR who braoadcast ranger games since the mid 70's.

I'll be at the first game..anyone who wants to meet up for a hot dog and wine cooler , lets say 305

Anti Steady ... Anti Sir William .... Bear .... Ted ..... Anti supporter are all the same LOSERRRRRRRRRRRRR

Anti -

Please come pick up your last check. We have one here for you for $3.95 for your three hours work. Thank you for staying at the Commack Hotel and filling in for our sick fry man in Commack.

p.s You owe us 2.95 for clogging the toilet.

Hi guys, been on holidays for 2 weeks. Can't help but comment on the SIR WILLIAM Canadian Press comments. Basically the bulk of the press are from Ontario and Quebec. They want an eastern time zone Canadian team to win, period. Recently Toronto has a similar record to the Islanders, yet nothing they do turns away the fans or the press.

Anyone I know that followed the game when the Islanders dominated are aware of how good the team was. I have never heard anyone belittle what they accomplished or how they played.

I watched my beloved Canucks get swept in 1983 by the Isles. There was definately respect there by Vancouver fans, but we were more choked that our team wasn't able to make a series out of it.

Unfortunately, the Islanders have had a long drought. They will have to make it past the 2nd round of the playoffs before they will get respect again.

ANTI..,,,According to the WHN 1050 site..."WHN was a radio station in New York City located at 1050 KHZ. It played country music from 1972 to 1987. This was the format WHN was best known for

Before that they played Adult Standards from 1962-73. Prior to that thay played Rock & Roll as WMGM-AM radio from the mid 50's to 1962. They had a diversified format as WHN since the early days of radio until their change in calls to WMGM in the 50's."

So, if you were listening to an all sports/24 hour a day program on WHN, well you were the only one.

WMCA did have some Sat night shows featuring sports talk but if they mentioned hockey it was by accident.

As for your Apple, that's great. Since the WWW was invented in 1989 and wasn't made public until Auhust 16, 1991, you must have been playing "pong" on it, since there was no internet to connect to.

WOR TV only broadcast AWAY games and were blacked out for any Islander games. They maybe did 15-20 games a season.
WNBC did have a Saturday afternoon NHL slate. I'm sure you remember PeterPuck.........Sir William

ISLES FAN IN NJ........Sorry buddy, but you are dead wrong. WFAN was WNBC 660 on your AM radio dial.(and still is)
WHN was 1050 on the dial.

Your all googled up. Get your facts right.......Sir William

Checking further I see that WHN dropped its call letters to WFAN on July 1, 1987 and started all sports talk radio. In October of 1988 it moved down the dial and merged with WNBC at 660 and became WFAN sports radio 66. WHN 1050 then became a Spanish language station.

In any case, all sports radio did not start until 1987. Not in the late '70's or early '80's as claimed by Mr. Anti Steady, as was the original point of the subject.........Sir William

POST AT 17:31 NOT MOI.

Looks like the preseason chop busting has started. While this debate in juvenille, I cant help but crack up at the 'Steady Rocks" comment. Does Steady have a gay admirer? Or, is Steady flattering himself?
SW- they will call you a windbag because you have knowledge. Keep up the good work, even if you are an Icelander fan. I actually concur witrh most of what you write. Enjoy the last days of summer guys.

20:15 was not me....Troll boy again

and NO I have never wrote the bs about myself...Plain to see it is Anti, so he can then rip me for writing it...Duhhhh

as for you 1994....Come on.....If you are a regular reader of our blog site, you should know better. Anti is a Ranger fan. So is all his alias Ted, Anti supporter, Gary, Woodbury, etc. etc.

WENDY, POOR, ANTI....Whatever name you want to use.

"Anti Steady mentioned late seventies-early eighties...So what if he was off a few years."

Few years?? It was July of 1987 that all sports radio began. The context of the posts were the beginning of the Islander Cup runs in 1979-1980.

This is the quote Wendy, which you claimed had no time context.

"There was 1050 WHN I believe who had a 24/7 sportstalk just before they turned into a country/western music station in the late 70's early 80's."

Since we were discussing media coverage of the times (late 70's)
that was completly wrong. But only off by less than a decade, but who's counting?...........Sir William

Come on, I'm not Anti or anyone else. I'm just a guy looking to see if a certain loudmouth will back up his statement. Remember, something about ice packs and oranges.

Why anyone continues to listen to Steady is beyond me. He has been called out and has backed down time and time again. From now on he should be known as "Keyboard Toughguy" or KT for short. I like that!

Regarding posts at 18:35 and 18:52. It really makes you wonder what makes someone post these type of things?

Does it make them feel good about themselves?

Do they re read it and get that special thrill? Is it actually more exciting to sign someones elses name for you?

Only the person who wrote it, knows who he (or she) is. It's your little secret and you should feel so proud to be so naughty and not be discovered. Did you turn off all the lights as you were composing your masterpiece?

Were you all excited when you saw it printed on the blog?

How many times did you come back and read it, to relive your special moment?

It takes a special type person to write something that we can all really admire. Well done. You should be so proud of yourself. I am sure that you are........Sir William

Hypocrisy Sir William.
Hey Kettle your black.

Not funny enough. Try harder.

Hey Ted aka Anti aka # 1:

Good news. We found ya all an apron that can fit. Now I spoke to the Inn keeper over yonder at the Comack Inn and he says you can have the day off of scrubbing toilets to come help shuck some of this here corn. As for the computer you need while traveling to our sis restaurantes, well no can do. What I can do is give you my travel "checkers" board.

Hang in there boys. Even a frog has a sunny day.

Wait... just hold on there one second. Let's all gather our thoughts and be cool for just one second.

"Rags = no Jagr no Avery.... LMAO!" Ted.

Really? Is that something you type to make yourself fell better?
Comrie? Guerin? Weight? Sutton? Sillinger? Witt?
The core of this team is 2nd tier stars at best. Funny, now that the Islanders have adopted the rest of the Atlantic division's "growth" plan, 3 years too late, these are the solutions Wang and Nolan and the FNG?
No Jagr, No Avery. And you're LYAO?
Who were your 50 pt scorers last season?
How many drafted youth hit the 20 pt mark?
How many players were a positive in the +/- column?
Nolan drove this team into the ground. And you cheered him!
You are a stupid, stupid person. You are witless and common trash blowing on the Long Island beaches.
Gomez alone is better than all 6 of the above players mentioned on this crapfest of a squad.
Drury alone is better than all 6 of the above mentioned 2nd tier trash that couldn't find homes with contenders, so they took advantage of Islanders fans and Wang. What happened to the genius Nolan again? What did you guys do with all those NTP's?
Are they now Gordon Type Players? Wang Type Players?
Sather’s choices vs. Wang’s desperation is what this boils down to.
What kind of silly excuse are you going to come up with this time for the team? Oh, right, re-building. 25 years straight!
All in all that's not the worst in the NHL. There's Chicago, Toronto, the Rangers, Vanc, Boston all with longer streaks at one time or the present!
Hank vs. DP. There isn't a contest there man! The overall NHL fan contingent would choose Hank.
But maybe this year will be different. Maybe DiP won’t over extend himself. Maybe he won't injure that hip... or head?
We took a chance on Naslund, and signed a 6 yr too long deal with Redden, something Sather is good at. BIG DEAL! Nothing we aren’t already used to. Then there’s always the chance it works in our favor.
But where do you get off mocking the Rangers. Is that the rhetoric that Daddy pumped into your tiny little rump? Or is that something you heard once and find it funny to repeat. You should try harder mo-mo. Do a little homework. Stop listening to you stupid friends and grow up, think for yourself. Change your name to “Slow Ted” too!

The fact a Ranger fan would comd on our blog and write a novel is comical. What is Hank and his weak glove hands record vs. the Isles again ?? What is Hanks record without Avery in the line up? What is the Rag$ record without Jagr in the line up?

WAKE UP !

As for Long Island beaches ? Have you ever been to a MTK beach? Hamptons? Maybe the tar beach you lie on in the summer in your hovel in Queens has got you mentally ill.

The Rags have been around for ever. An original
