Krog waived, move imminent?

In a move that clears roster space for either a trade or a callup, center Jason Krog was waived.

Krog, a healthy scratch for the past seven games, was acquired off waivers from Atlanta on Jan. 12.
He had two goals in nine games with the Rangers.

The Rangers top front office execs (President and GM Glen Sather and Assistant GM Don Maloney) are in Edmonton in advance of Mark Messier's jersey retirement ceremony tomorrow. That's where their temporary trade deadline headquarters are located.

Blues center Petr Cajanek also was waived....I'd think he's a possibility for the Blueshirts

Stay tuned....

Martin Straka (shoulder) did not practice and said he didn't know whether he would skate tomorrow before the game against Montreal.

I'm starting to think the team should be entertaining offers for Nylander. A 34-year old free agent at the end of the season he could get the team at least a mid first round pick in the draft and then be re-signed next year.

Though personally I would let him go completely. More and more I'm growing concerned with the Euro-style the Rangers are playing.

In addition, they need to get Rosival off the ice when Jagr is on it. Rosival has a good shot but when Jagr is on the ice he insists on forcing the puck to him rather than shooting it.

No way they waived Krog just to make space for a call up from Hartford. Especially since there's no one at center in Hartford who they'd call up right now.

I just hope that whoever it is they're trying to bring in has a long-term future with the club, and won't cost the farm.

Yea, makes sense.

My salary just cleared the cost of Grip Tape. They must have a HUGE DEAL in place!

Jason Krog was put on waivers so the Rangers can aquire Ryan Smyth from Edmonton. Since his salary only has about $200K left on it this yr.
Apparently Lowe is asking Sather for his own retirement ceremony at MSG along with Callahan.
The NHL is signing off on the deal now!

Hmm, Jason Krog, we hardly knew ya! A center that scored 2 goals in 9 games and got his nose dirty but we can't use him? We couldn't put him on a wing on the 4th line in place of Orr? He wasn't too bad on faceoffs either from what I can remember of his short stay. Cajanek - of course he'd be a good fit, he's another Czech to add to the mix of those to surround Jagr with...those 2 1/2 minute shifts take a lot out of player and comfortable surroundings help the body recover quicker for the next shift of nothing! Besides, after letting Sykora go after last season there is an imbalance in the locker room because that's one less Czech player on the roster. At least spring training is here and it gives us something else to think about!

How is Cajanek a good option? There is a reason why the Blues placed him on waivers.Cajanek stinks and is signed for next season. No thank you

Cajanek is Czech, over thirty years old, under six feet tall and weighs less than 195 pounds...sure lets add another player for opposing teams to push around..

So what you are trying to say is Cajanek is perfect for the Rangers

Is Bare4 actually trying to criticize the Krog move? Are you kidding me? Typical fans who dont have a clue. The guy stinks! Nothing management does makes people happy... hey Fire Renney while we are at it! He was a great coach last yr but this yr he sux.. ax him!
Bring up Callahan, Dawes, Baranka.. they will make us great! Wait where is Stall? How come he is not playing.. oh wait he is in Juniors and cant be called up until the season is over! If we only had Dominic Moore back, he is the missing piece! LMAO!

Renny is part of the problem here were not playing like a team. Renny isnt helping this team contend hes not bringing them together. Wheres the heart we had last year? This starts at the top and sather isnt going anywhere but Renny is not helping. Its not all his fault but he is ceartinly part of the problem.

Does anyone ever hold the athletes responsible?? How about the fact they are the ones making the mistakes... a coach can only do so much. Bottom line is this team was not that good last year and is not that good this year.
Jagr's performance is down and Lundqvist is easily beaten up high. He makes big saves but lets in very weak goals!! That is the difference in this team.. not something Renney can fix.

Can someone explain to me how Ryan Callahan is not up with this team yet?

2nd round pick for Smolinski ... after all the overpaying and complaining about having to give up young talent I'd like to see someone say the Rangers couldnt have afforded that.

Captain,
Sorry I'm not there to help. You know I would be carrying the team to the playoffs. But, the Rangers screwed up big time trading me!

Mike,
The whole Hartford team is on its way up to play the Canadiens tomorrow night. They are even bringing Sonar, Torpedo and the Cheer Squad: http://www.hartfordwolfpack.com/fanzone_cheersquad.php
I also hear that Jim Schoenfeld will coach for one game to give Renney the night off. Oh yea, Gernander is coming to but, he will be dressing!

Finally...
The Rangers are rumored to be in the race for Todd Bertuzzi (only non sarcastic comment in this post). That oughta set the crying and whining off real good!

weez - our 2nd rd pick for Smolinski (likely approx 40 in draft) would be overpaying. we are not going to the playoffs with him or without him. We should have been sellers not buyers. as they say in poker you have to know when to hold them and know when to fold them.

Hey Captain - Yes I was criticizing the Krog move. How many forwards do we have that have scored twice in 9 games? I'm not saying that he's the answer to our problems, but if they're not going to bring up and use Callahan, Dubinsky or Dawes I'd rather see him or someone like him in the line-up rather than Colton Orr! This season is a bust. Sather fell for all the Stanley Cup contender hype and the result is this gutless team that we're watching. If not for the one exceptionally strong month last season, they wouldn't have made the playoffs last season either. This season we had just the opposite; one exceptionally bad month & it has sunk us! Jagr last season was a force, carrying the puck, making plays or scoring goals. This year he is a perimeter player doing nothing except over-stay his shifts. Let's rebuild once and forever and put an exciting team on the ice. Look at the Pens...they've come together and are infinitely more exciting than the Rangers even if they don't make the playoffs!

There won't be any trades. Ranger management is in Edmonton to celebrate Messier's number being retired and then they are going fishing. If you think they care about this team then they would be here instead. I guess the Oilers are more important to them. Sather is trying to remember his days as a winning GM.

In New York we say FIRE SATHER FIRE SATHER FIRE SATHER!!!!!!!

This is a joke. This team will never be good with idiots running the team.

Brooks reports Sather is taking offers for Jagr!

"Glen Sather is said to have told potential trading partners that he'd consider trading Jagr if presented an offer that "knocked him out."

SOMEBODY PLEASE KNOCK HIM THE F OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Literally and with an offer!

something has to happen. my stomach turns just thinking about losses to the blue jackets at home, and the inability to beat the devil, never can beat top teams, plus losing to the gritty isles

Guerin to San Jose...another Ranger target off the table. Soon the team might stop looking to buy and start selling
