From the Rangers press office:
"We are pleased to have Sean under contract and are looking forward to him returning with the same passion and enthusiasm he brought to our team last year," stated President and general manager Glen Sather. "He is a terrific competitor, who we expect to play a significant role in a successful season."
Sounds like a little different tack than what appeared in the arbitration briefs, huh?
Remember folks, it's all business...

I am glad the Avery thing is settled and we finally look like we know what we have going into training camp barring any trades.
I would love to see a line of Shanahan-Avery-Callahan, feisty group, Avery and Callahan have speed, Shanahan has the hands.
Drury playing with Straka and Prucha.
Jagr with Gomez and Hossa.
Considering Betts is a solid 4th line center and we have Dubinsky and Asniminov waiting in the wings, where are we possibly going to play Mike Peca or Jason Allison?
I think it's time to just go into training camp with what we have. But, if Sather is so dying to spend the last 3 million we have left on the cap, why not sign Danny Markov and stop him from going to Europe to play.
We don't need anymore forwards. We are set up front.
I'm still very angry.
Last I checked, the cap #'s are a debt-built reciprocating allegory. If Sather has a carpe diem mentality, then Gomez should play the switchback pk.
Imposter, what the hell are you talking about? At least try and make sense you useless piece of worm ridden filth.

I'm excited! It's almost time for preseason to start with a really good team. Probably a contender. I might have to buy the Center Ice package so I can see all the games. I get less than 1/3 of the games up here in smAlbany. Most of the time we get the stupid buffaslugs and the blueshirts get blacked out.
How was Avery a restricted free agent at age 27? I thought you automatically become UnRestricted at that time.
I was loving the off-season until Slats traded Cullen and then pissed off Avery. Neither move made sense. Cullen improved toward the end of last year, and formed a great speed line with Prucha and Callahan. He figured to only get better in year 2 in NY - why move him, unless cap room allowed you to get a better player?
And the Avery thing was a fiasco. Why would you piss off a guy who single-handedly turned around your season? Avery's grit (and talent) had been missing since the Cup year.
That kind of behavior makes it hard to root for a team, and must piss the other players off to know it's an us vs. them mentality. Couldn't have made Renney too happy.
