Top Prospects on NHL Network

Before scooting over to St. Paul for the morning skate, just wanted to mention some news on the prospect front.

If certain teams make the medal round, U.S. viewers will be able to watch Rangers prospects Bobby Sanguinetti, Artem Anisimov, Alexei Cherepanov and others compete in the World Junior Championships.

The NHL Network is televising the medal rounds from the Czech Republic live beginning Jan. 2 at 10 AM ET with quarterfinal games. The network also will re-air the games the following day in most cases. The U.S. team is in Pool B with Russia, Finland, Switzerland and Kazakhstan. The Isles Kyle Okposo is with Sanguinetti on Team USA; Anisimov and Cherpanov, of course, are with Russia. Worth tuning in no matter what; Team Canada is loaded, with probably four players who will be first-rounders this summer.

More to come....

Would be good to actually see Sanguinetti and Chereponov in action.

I know it's off your topic Steve but I doubt people will go back to the other threads...

As far as Simon is concerned, the suspension wasn't even close to severe enough. He should be DONE. KAPUT. He shouldn't be
allowed to play ANY form of professional hockey the rest of his life. AHL, ECHL, UHL. Period. He has proven time and time again that he isn't a hockey player. Even by old school standards, he's nothing more than an uncontrollable animal, and I can't believe Nolan is sticking up for him. Yeah, yeah, I guess he's the coach and needs to stand by his players but the Isles front office over the past 10 years has been such a joke that they HAVE to release this guy. If they put him back on the ice in February they will be the laughing stock of the league.

Also, I think everyone should here the numbers again...

6-3 with both Dawes and Avery in the line up
12-14 without one of them

6-4 with Avery in
10-12 without him

7-3 with Dawes in
10-12 without him

The 5 game winning streak came with both of them in the lineup

hear...not "here"

Great news about the NHL network covering those games. Hope you all have access to it. 24 hours of hockey. My only complaint is the reptitious sound byte by Darryl Sittler just about every half hour. I like Darryl Sittler but I know his record breaking scoring exploit by heart now. Mix it up a little guys. And it would be nice to know the names of the commentators. Introduce yourselves guys.

Other than that, great network.

Dan, interesting numbers with Dawes and Avery in the lineup. Dawes should stay, Avery, when he comes back, should stay, Hossa should be battling Hollweg for 4th line duty. For tonight, top three line wings should be Shanny, Jagr, Straka, Dawes, Callahan and Prucha. Whichever guy is slumping when Avery returns sits.

Hey Lenny. I think it's a no brainer. When Avery returns, Prucha sits. I love the fearlessness he plays with but he's not scoring. And right now, we need goals. Hossa's not scoring but he's good in his own zone and kills penalties so he has more value. Prucha doesn't plany on the PK and is nothing special in his own zone. I would love to see him traded right now.

For tonight, keep the lines the same from last game. And don't bring Avery back till he's 100%. He plays too physical and he'll be out again so fast if he's not ready.

I think it's a no brainer when Avery returns. Cally sits, whilst both he and Prucha are slumping Cally does'nt have a 50+ goal scoring record in the NHL.

Whilst I love his fearlessness he offers little in his own zone and plays on neither the PK or PP, he's neither scoring or setting up anything.

I'd love to see him traded right now...

keep in mind more injuries will happen so we can't just assume the same 6 forwards will play on the top 3 lines.
