Has to be a thrill for the kid, who will be a Ranger for a long time, as long as he stays healthy

And what do we all know this means will happen within the next two years? He will be traded for a vet in the last year of his contract at the twilight of his career.
yup.
why?
Can someone tell me the last time the Rangers traded an up and coming kid for a washed up vet?
stop being morons for a few minutes
Bure, Lindros, Kovalev, Dunham, Rucinsky, Sykora, DiMaio ring a bell?
Wow I was just looking at old Ranger rosters and saw Michal Grosek and Hossa is really pretty much the same player, only Grosek was actually more productive.
So, no trades of any signifigant youth for an aging vet in over 7 years, thanks for helping me prove my point Booooob, appreciate it.
Rangers got Marian Hossa for Garth Murray, ummmm, yeah. Good point there Boooob.
ooooooops, that would be Marcel Hossa.
See Booooob, your stupidity is spreading!
Hey Dan,
so basically your theory is because Neil Smith traded Mike Knuble for Rob Dimao trading deadline, in the year 2000, that automatically means Glen Sather will trade Brandon Dubinsky for an aging vet within the next two years.
Yeah, nice theory.
As a Rangers fan, I officially hate dumb Rangers fans more than I hate any Islander fan on the planet.
What section were you sitting in Dan?
Dude my Grosek point had no relation to my other point that is why it was separrated.

wow talk about stupid and clueless... There always seems to be at least one fan of Sather on every blog.

hey look everyone R.C. is using a new name.
Allstar coverage;
The Hives? Is that what kids are listening to these days? Poor SOBs. I'd like the name of the toolbox that hired a band that sinks live to open the allstar game. What's next Jessica Simpson and Amy Winehouse?
I'll name one....
Marc Savard
New York Rangers' 4th round choice ( 91st overall) in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft.
OHL Second All-Star Team (1995) Traded to Calgary by NY Rangers with NY Rangers 1st round choice (Oleg Saprykin) in 1999 Entry Draft for the rights to Jan Hlavac and Calgary's 1st (Jamie Lundmark) and 3rd (later traded back to Calgary Calgary selected Craig Andersson) round choices in 1999 Entry Draft, June 26, 1999. Traded to Atlanta by Calgary for Ruslan Zainullin, November 15, 2002. Signed as a free agent by Thurgau (Swiss-2), October 11, 2004. Signed as a free agent by Bern (Swiss), November 23, 2004. Signed as a free agent by Boston, July 1, 2006.
let that little ice show stand as proof positive that "Beatman" and his goons share little in the idea of how to market this game to a substantial youth market that has the education and the resources to understand and afford north american hockey.
Additionally, this broadcast crew stinks.
Weight
Amonte
Johan Holmqvist
Klouceck
Zidlicky
Zubov
those are just off the top of my head. There must be more.
History does not fair well for us in the trade department.
Weight and Amonte - We won a cup so dont even bring them into the discussion.
Savard - we traded for another kid who didnt pan out so the aging vet theory is wrong there again too.
Holmqvist - please tell me you are kidding
Kloucek - blew out his knee and never did anything, another bad point.
Zidlicky - would like to have him back but we needed a goalie so cant argue there. No one in this blog knew who he was either when we dealt him.
Zubov - uh we made a huge blockbuster trade there so lets not argue that one either. Last I checked zubov was run out of town by the flyers.. literally.
As for the "Vets" we brought in.. Lindros, Bure, Jagr, Rucinsky, Sykora and Dimaio.. who did we actually lose?? Knuble and a few good not great yrs from Kim Johnson.
Now everyone look at the Hartford roster before Sather got here and look at it now...you are all just pathetic negative people. This man has changed the "system" of the Rangers whether you like him or not.
Johnson, Kim
Traded by Rangers to Philadelphia with Jan Hlavac, Pavel Brendl and 2003 third-round draft pick (Stefan Ruzicka) for Eric Lindros and a conditional 2003 first-round draft pick (conditions not met) on Aug. 20, 2001. yup, no one saw that coming... Murphy's Law.
Holmqvist turned out far better than L.Nywhatevertheheck. Sure would have made a better back up to Hank... better than Dunham...
Zidlicky, well since you didn't know anything about him I guess he shouldn't count... (you're being foolish)
Zubov- are you kidding me? Traded by Rangers to Pittsburgh with Petr Nedved in exchange for Luc Robitaille and Ulf Samuelsson on Aug. 31, 1995. Yeah, awesome trade.
Sure Sather has done a great job with the farm system. I say constantly that he needs to keep doing a good job with the farm and keep his promise. But history always repeats itself. Being in familiar situations again, close to the deadline makes fans worry.
you asked for examples... As in "careful what you ask for".
Looks like Marian Hossa didn't have instant chemistry with Gomez.
Dubinsky is not going anywhere, everybody stop worrying. As for this Sundin rumor on Ranger Joe's blog, I would not like that move one bit. Bottom-line, this team is not built to go to June this year (even by addding Sundin.. where would you fit him under the cap anyway?). Sure there will be playoff excitement and possibly even conference finals. But getting to the finals and winning it? As fans, we can only hope for the best and be optimistic about our chances. But thinking realistically, I would rather think about the team's 3-5 year plan for glory with the youth we're seeing. Dubinsky, Staal, Dawes, Callahan.. think big not now, but in 3-5 years.
I guess DP (aka DipStick) must have been wearing his "SPECIAL" white goalie pads.
Congrats to Dub but Staal had the best goal in the young players game. Perfect top corner goal, he really needs to shoot more
Good to see both young Rangers shine in the game
Ante - I bet you wrote the Giants off after week two as well.
I still think they have a shot at things....besides Ottawa lots of mediocore teams in the east....a hot Hank could carry us into the finals and then who knows.....
Gomez standing up to Malek and shipping him out of town will hopefully spark a nice run. Still would like to see one or two blue line focused moves at the deadline...maybe someone bites on Malek and Montoya...would like to see Rozival on the move as well because i dont think he will be worth keeping.
We are pretty deep at the moment and it wouldnt hurt us long term to move a few high level prospects...you cant keep them all in the days of the cap.
Slick Willy: How can you say that the trade of Zubov was an awesome trade ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Imagine Leetch and Zubov on the Rangers PP for the last 18 years !!
Good for Dubinsky. It was funny seeing him be the only forward coming back behind the goal line and playing Defense. I bet Renney was glowing.
i was being sarcastic.
I think you got me confused with Woodbury, or Dude, or GM... their all the same guy
What Dude, Woodbury, or R.C. (or whoever the hell that is) is failing to realize is that regardless of who is at the wheel,
1. History repeats itself
2. A lot of the staff that was present with Smith is probably still there
3. Pressure from NY media to "Do something now" can have a factor in GMs decisions
4. To intelligent GMs, Dubinsky is the only player that has any trade value right now.
Honestly, do you think that NYR is going to get any player of any significance back for any player here but Dubinsky? Especially with the league-wide parity? If you were a GM and you got a call from Sather, who would you ask about? What it would take to get Dubinsky off his hands would be my first question, and the conversation would be quickly over if he weren't on the table, and this is probably how most conversations go between Sather and other GMs. It's just worrysome that something needs to get done and he's pretty much it as far as trade value goes. That being said, the NY pressure from media and fans to "get something done now" looks pretty mean at the trade dealine if your out of a playoff spot.
