The Rangers just started a 4 p.m. skate in Greenburgh and former un-person Marek Malik is on the ice. What does it mean? Will he play tomorrow? Has he skaken Tom Renney's hand today? It'll be about an hour or so before we can talk to Malik and the coach to find out the latest, so why don't you use that time to speculate and tell us what you would like to see happen? We'll be back later with the answers.
UPDATE, 5:15 p.m.:
Renney said, "Back in the fold. Away we go."
Would Malik play tomorrow? "Chance of that. We'll see."
Malik said he had a "really good talk" with Renney and with his teammates. He seemed most upset the issue of his not shaking Renney's hand had leaked out of the locker room. He said, "Obviously, I'm not happy I'm going in and out of the lineup." He said he did not ask Renney for a trade.
So there you go.

Tragic...Renney have a back bone and escort this clown out of town....
i was really hoping he was being traded. he doesnt try ever!
What is Sather waiting for? DO something before they get knocked out of the playoffs.

You are making an assumption that Tom Renney has the final say in what happens to Malik when in reality he doesn't ...
Matty, you are correct. If he did this team would look different for sure.
Honestly, I was not a Malik Hater to say. I didn't mind the guy. When I heard the stories I then started to believe and still do believe that he needs to go if he is causing problems in the dressing room.
My guess is that Sather can not find the deal right now so he will get inserted back into the mix while they find the deal. There will be a deal with Malik involved before the deadline.
It's too bad. Too bad I'll have to endure another game watching Malik screen Hank, not hit the oncoming attacker, not clear the crease or be effective when jumping into the play.
Did I leave anything out?
So we are going to bring back a guy who didn't shake the hand of the man who supported him more than anyone? How exactly does that work? He gets to spend MORE time with this team even though several teammates called him on his move?
I was one of the guys that cut Malik some slack. But, after his play this year and this transgression with Renney, he shouldn't see the ice as a Ranger again.
Sad that Malik is back but not surprised, as this is the organization, Sather, that signed convicted rapist Billy Tibbetts
Malik is harder to get rid of than herpes. He should never see the inside of the locker room again, trade or no trade. As usual, managment is off the mark. My opinion is fire sale at the deadline no matter where we are in the playoff race. We have to trade the FA's to be or we get nothing when they leave in July. The risk in keeping them for a chance to make the playoffs is too high. We'll be so much stronger next year if we start selling now. I'm not holding my breath though.
Sad Sad Sad... I hope they are just showcasing Malik for a trade. He's gotta go.
Aaron Ward spouted off to Jagr last season and he was traded instantly. Sather better back Renney the same way or Renney's going to lose the room. I realize Harry's trade value is virtually zero, but he's gotta go.
His trade value, however low, is higher than his value to the team for sure. Don't let the door hit ya...
Renney is a spineless coward. He has the back bone of an ameba!
to allow this nothing of a defenseman to act like a primadona is just shamefull.Anyone who thinks that this dressing room doesn't have factions is insane.Only a friend of Jagr could get away with this type of action (see A.Ward last year).
Aaron Ward was a cancer ... how well did they play after they got rid of him?
I can't even believe jess and dubi over at bb can stick up for renney and his gutless demeanor in this situation. It's bad enough jagr gets a free pass but this slug ,please grow a set will you tom.
Tom Renney had Malik leave the team until today. Its not like he didn't punish him at all. What do you want him to do,have him beheaded? Glenn Sather has to make the choice to trade him or not. Just because Jagr and Malik are both Czech doesn't mean they are best friends. Thats really gotten old already. If Jagr had such a say in what went on with the Czech players don't you think Petr Prucha would get a little better treatment?
"Accountability" at its finest. If this doesn't prove that the players don't need to be accountable for their actions, I don't know what does.
