Future Hall of Famer Jaromir Jagr's three-year tenure in New York is over.
Rangers General manager Glen Sather said this afternoon that he spoke with the Czech superstar, who is an unrestricted free agent, and told him that the club was moving in another direction.
"It was a very cordial parting," Sather said, adding that the 36-year-old was seriously considering an offer that his agent was reviewing from Russia.

The man put this team on his back after the lockout and was the biggest part of us gaining respectablility back. Thank you, Jaromir Jagr for that. I, and many other Ranger fans will always be grateful. Good luck to wherever you end up.

I get the feeling from everything that happened and was said that everyone wanted to be let off the hook - Sather didn't want Jagr back from the get-go, and Jagr wanted to go to Omsk from the get-go.
Absolutely, we owe Jagr a big thanks, it was exciting watching him play, especially the 05-06 season when he should have won the Hart Trophy.

I hate Naslund signing. 13 hits in 82 games that is as bad as Huselius, maybe even worse. And he is already 35. But at least he should sabotage our PP like Jagr does.
Kalinin also isn't physical, but I guess we had to sign somebody and he was the only one willing to sign 1 year deal other than Ossi Vaananen who we should have targeted instead.

bob, Thats a highlight reel of the guys worst moments (zomg humans make mistakes can it be?), most of which were against Alexander Fricking Ovechkin, who makes most defensemen look like 5 year olds. He's an average to good defender.
I understand the point. It's the attitude I can live without. GM's do stupid things all the time. It's not so far fetched that a GM would trade for Rozi now. Look at the contract Sather gave Rozi. And he's considered a smart GM.

Watch Sather sign another Kiev born played--Zhitnik to a 1 year deal. Zhitnik played with Kalinin for 4 seasons.

I am extremely happy with almost all of the signings, the trade, and finally getting rid of Jagr, Straka, Malik, and Shanahan and very soon hopefully Betts and Hollweg. I am extremely excited to see this new Jagrless team and a Jagrless, Strakaless, Shanahanless PP.
This should be one of the most exciting teams in NHL with 4 lines that can score it will be hard to defend against.
And BTW I am originally from Kiev and I always loved Zhitnik, too bad he is almost 36, but he might have some gas left in the tank and he does have some chemistry with Kalinin so it might be not a bad option.

Sather put together 4 good scoring lines...all we need is a big tough D, and don't think for a second he isn't working on pulling something out of a hat. We are gonna have an excellent skating team....speed is where it's at...I'm looking fwd. to seeing the team jell and the chemistry come alive by the allstar break.
