The Pitt Post-Gazette's Dave Molinari says Pens officials have been told this morning that he's not coming to Pittsburgh....
UPDATE: Now being confirmed elsewhere. Shorter-term deal apparently, one-year, $7.4 mil. Red Wings become repeat Cup faves. Imagine that PP...
So, Rangers still in on Sundin, Jagr (if the sides can agree on about the same money)
No further word on Sundin, it's dinner time in Sweden

I'm really starting to hate the Red wings!
That is a weird deal. And how can the wings have the money to improve that much. Its not fair
A little suprising it's only a one year deal, the guy has been on ottawa, Atlanta, pittsburgh and now Detroit in a relatively short period of time, would think he'd want to settle somewhere long term.
Very interesting (and confident) move by Hossa. Everyone expected he could have gotten more years at about the same money (or not that much less). Wonder if the market pushed him to this deal - ie; not as many takers as we thought.
Roc - Other than jealousy (which I have for them too) how can you not like the Wings? Couldn't have rooted more for them to beat the Cindy Whiners.
he could have locked in a lot of years and a lot of money, now he risks a bad season or injury. i understand wanting to win a cup but i'm still scratching my head on this one.
well, he risks injury, but put it in the bank that Hossa is going to get 100 points playing with Datsyuk and Zetterberg.
to me this 1 year deal says to me "hey russia super league.. ill be available next season but its gonna cost you more then 7.4 million."
Wonder if Jagr would take a similar deal to stay. Would Avery take $4.5 for 1 yr? I'd do both those deals. Puts us right up on the cap.
Dump Backman, Hollweg, Strudwick, Mara. Skip Shanny. Use all those dollars to run at Orpik. Good start to the season and go from there.
