We are stardust
We are golden
And we've got to get ourselves
Back to the garden...
Joni Mitchell
"Woodstock"
Well, if after all these years, many of us have never really gotten back to the garden, how about bringing the Garden to upstate New York?
Forget Bonnaroo.
Have you heard about MSG's plans to stage an annual three-day music festival on a sprawling dairy farm?
Oh, the mud, the tunes, the colors, the merchandising. Wait, I'm getting a flashback, man.
You can bet Jim Dolan's band is already booked on the main stage. Will John Amirante sing the national anthem?
Heck, I'm going only if Henrik Lundqvist's band is playing---and there's a hotel nearby.
Seriously, boys and girls, MSG Entertainment is looking into purchasing 910 acres near Springfield, about 60 miles west of Albany, and have spoken with officials in the town, which is, no surprise, divided on the topic.
Next up, an environmental study, according a piece in Sunday's New York Times metro section, which closes with a hilarious quote from perhaps the most famous fictional resident of any Springfield, Homer Simpson.
"Why do you need new bands? Everyone knows rock attained perfection in 1974.
It's a scientific fact."
More on this as things develop...
UPDATE: For those who asked, there's nothing scheduled on the Ranger press conference front this week

I went to Woodstock with my parents, as I was an adopted child. Was only 11, but remember the kindness of complete strangers, alot of drugs, and the music was LOUD. Some years later, I attended SUCO Oneonta, in a nearby area. Really nice country, and hope it happens. Keep us posted. Any New Conference announcements??
I actually think rock attained perfection in 1973 with Dark Side of the Moon.
too bad Naslund wanted to play on a team that was a cup contender, hasn't anyone told him they're revamping the team?
There is just no way this team will contend for a cup next season.
Thanks for being the negative nancy and completely writing off the team. Honestly how do you consider yourself a fan if you don't think each and every year they have a chance at making a run at the cup? Granted 29 other teams feel they have a shot every year, yet you want to write them off before the puck drops for camp.
Must be because we lost Avery...because Avery was going to deliver the cup.
Wait it was Jagr, because he delivered the Cup 3 times since joining the team...
Lost of Shanahan must be the reason for the vote of no confidence, because hes just been that Dynamo of energy since he collided with Knuble.
I'm proud to see these guys played for our team and apprechiate what they've done for us as a team and an organization while we were pulling ourselves out of the gutter. I am excitied to be a Ranger fan now, We have stars like Drury, Gomez, Nasland, Redden, and Henrik. Some up and comming stars like Callahan, Dubinsky, Staal, Girardi, Dawes, Sjostrom, Zherdev. We have some proven goal-scorers who have lost their touch but have something to prove given more icetime like Prucha.
You want to write off the Rangers now go ahead and skip watching the season and cheer on the Knicks or The Giants or The Jets or whatever team you think you root for. I'll be watching as many of the 82+ games as I can from College dorm in Boston cheering on the Blueshirts until their season ends no matter how it does. I'm not ready to write them off until they are mathmatically out of the playoff picture or lose 4 games in the playoffs.
Steve,
Is there a way to get in touch with the Rangers PR guy and ask him if they are having a press conference. I know last year we had to share the press conference with the stinking knicks. Did would be cool to see all the new guys in the rangers jersey
Did you guys see that David LeNeveu signed with the Ducks? I thought he was Rangers property, or at least a RFA.... here is the article. I thought he was a pretty good goaltender?

What an amazing trade by Sather. They sure got a lot for Montoya. I don't understand how this happened with LeNeveu.

Wow someone stealing someone else's name cause I actually know that person. You wasted 2 comments stealing someones name to be funny. Another mental midget. I think you should find a life pal. Seriously.
Anyway I think Dru should be Captain, no question about it.
A= Naslund
A=Gomez
Going to be interesting rest of the offseason.
Naslund and Gomez should get the A's.
3 reasons why Gomez shouldn't have A:
1. He should play on the same line with Drury the Captain. So the A is pointless.
2. Gomez is just not a real leadership type of a guy.
3. at least Naslund and Redden are more qualified.
Why has there been noofficial announcement of Mara signing?
Rangers need to make a trade for a good goalie prospect and a monster physical defenseman prospect(like Valabik). If anybody wants Cherepanov trade him if the price is right. With Anisimov, Zherdev and Grachev, Cherepanov is the odd man out.
Dawes, Cherepanov, Hollweg and Betts for O'Sullivan and Brown
Prucha, Pock and Baranka for Valabik
Hey, the post at 21:20 was not ME, as I just returned from the East Side Club at 227 E56th St, (212) 753-2222. and we had fun/
Wow Bob you again make some good points, this is getting scary.
I am not at all familiar with those D prospects you mentioned. I looked up the Valabik guy and he is big I'll give you that, not sure how good he is.
I have no idea how Sather could work my trade idea and make it fit under the cap...but how about some combination of Prucha, Cherepanov, Callahan, Dawes etc for Havlat and Seabrook? It gives us a big nasty young d-man and a top line winger (A Czech star as well to open the season in Prague). It makes sense as long as we can somehow manage Havlats $6 million per contract.
Are the Rangers done for the summer on the trade/free agent front? I have a hard time thinking that Zherdev/Naslund will provide more offense than Jagr/Shanny/Avery/Straka up front. Any chances the Rangers could still land Havlat from Chicago or make another trade before summer's end?
From a previous thread...
"Posted by jj | July 4, 2008 15:46 Just thinking out loud and wonder if there is a "wink, wink" agreement
between the Rangers and Avangard Omsk that we back off Jagr and they allow Cheperanov to come here? i wonder."
There were rumors flying around like this very shortly after Chereponov was drafted, and I believed them then, and I still believe them now.
Think about that rumor and then this for a third five man unit for a second
Zherdev, Anisimov, Chereponov
Baranka, Rosival
"I have a hard time thinking that Zherdev/Naslund will provide more offense than Jagr/Shanny/Avery/Straka up front."
you don't understand the concept of icetime. Give crappy 3rd liner enough icetime to get his confidence going and he becomes a very good 2nd liner or even a 1st liner. Whoever is the beneficiary of the freed up icetime and PP time will produce, given that they are not lazy, don't have the hands of stone and have good hockey sense.
Also if we get rid of the useless Hollweg, Betts, and Orr we will have a 4th line that can actually contribute offensively just like every other team in NHL. Which will also help the other lines score. This is now looking like a real TEAM, not some Mickey Mouse joke that it was under "Captain" Jaromir; only need to get rid of Betts, Orr and Hollweg.
Dawes will get 50+ points for sure.
I bet Grachev will be a much better NHLer than Cherepanov
BOB IS A RETARD, PLEASE BAN HIS IP ADDRESS FROM POSTING ANY MORE COMENTS. THANKS. HE ACTUALLLY THINKS OUR TWO BEST CENTERS SHOULD PLAY ON THE SAME LINE. BOB HAVE YOU EVER PLAYED OR WATCHED ANY HOCKEY OR DO YOU JUST LIKE TO POST COMMENTS ON BLOGS YOU KNOW LITTLE OR NOTHING ABOUT? TRADE CHERAPENOV? R O F L. IDIOT. YOU REALIZE HE WAS THE STEAL OF THAT YEARS DRAFT? HE WOULD HAVE BEEN PICKED IN THE TOP THREE IF HE DIDNT HAVE TO STAY IN RUSSIA FOR TWO MORE YEARS.

ARE YOU SHITTIN ME? GIVING A PLAYER MORE ICETIME DOESN'T MAKE THEM GOOD. I.E. MAREK MALIK. WAKE UP IDIOT STOP POSTING THANK YOU AND GOODNIGHT.
BOB, CAN I PLEASE HAVE YOU PHONE NUMBER I WOULD LIKE TO DISCUSS SOME OF YOUR IDEAS. NOT SURE WHETHER OR NOT YOU SHOULD BE COMMITED.
AS FOR "JOKE"

YOU ARE SERIOUS? WHY WOULD YOU TRADE OUR THREE BEST PROSPECTS FOR SOME WASHED UP SCRUB THATS OVERPAID AND CANNOT EVEN GET ALONG WITH HIS OWN TEAM. YOU ARE A GENIUS IN MY BOOK. IS YOUR NAME STEVE PHILLIPS FORMER METS MANAGER?
"Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2008 00:46 ...Think about that rumor and then this for a third five man unit for a second
Zherdev, Anisimov, Chereponov
Baranka, Rosival"
Wow. I didn't realize Demtri Kalinin was now a Ranger too. Completely different team this coming season.
Make that
Zherdev, Anisimov, Chereponov
Kalinin, Rosival
Andrew Hutchinson signed with the Lightning.
They also signed Mark Recchi.
They are signing everyone!
Somebody doesn't realize that Cherepanov's production did not in any way improve over last season, and that he is soft and lazy and is not very interested in coming over and if he does he likely runs back as soon as he doesn't like something.. I really doubt Cherepanov is our best prospect, he is overrated and there is a very good reason he fell and would likely keep falling to the end of the 1st round if not for Rangers.
I guess somebody is clueless to think that Malik is a 3rd liner. And that once Malik's confidence was hurt by booings and benchings he started to suck even more.
Look what happened to Avery, Knuble, Savard, Rozsival, Prucha, Michael Samuelsson, St. Louis, Jason Blake, etc.
Wow parts 1 & 2,
Take your meds and read this very slowly. My exact words were "some combination of..." meaning mix & match those names to come up with a good trade, I didn't say trade each and everyone of these kids in the trade. I also don't know for sure that Dawes, Callahan and Chere are our best three prospects. I think maybe Staal, Dubinsky, Anisimov etc would have something to say about that argument. And the topic at that moment was if Cherepanov becomes expendable with the availability of Anisimov, Gratchev and Zherdev. I hope Chere comes over and has an amazing Ranger career but if the right trade is there than you have to make it. We need a top line winger and a big d-man which my trade would get us. I am guessing your trade offer would be Hollweg and Betts for Phaneuf? Come yourself down and have a great day.

make that "calm yourself down..."
this place has finally jumped the shark. Agreeing with Bob? The guys nuts.
Renney siad yesterday in his interview that he was aware of the need for a bigger stronger defensemen that that they were trying to address those needs.
If you want reality, listen, listen carefully to what was said yesterday on the radio. Then go do your homework, you'll see that bringing in a Seasbrook doesn't fit the overall defensive plan.
And over paying Havlet to be injured isn't going to be considered at all.
Callahan- Dawes and Prucha are all bait, but not all in the same deal and not all at the same time. The return will have upside, potential and or the strengths we need filled. (joke I just read your clarification)
The Defense is soft. We don't have a second line winger with proven scoring abilities or a playmaker. (depending on how you line up the team.)
We're flush with centers, defensive prospects projected to be NHL's, and 3-4th line wingers.
We have 1, count with me - 1, o-n-e offensive top rated prospect with 1st line potential out of the farm, or Russian in this case.
Trade him? Why because Dubi over at B.B. was offended because Cherepanov didn't know who he was, so Dubi tore the kid apart in the media by questioning his potential and heart? Are you kidding me... we all know what it takes to sell a mag in this day and age, and we also know that the first things people with money problems cancel are mag subscriptions. Not to mention that the economy lends to this fact. But a grown man, that speaks English tore a 19 yr Russian superstar prospect apart on his blog because the kid didn't know anything about B.B.'s mag, didn't understand the questions and couldn't comp. the basis because of in contract with Osmk (sp?). Some might call that a language barrier. He wants to live out the remainder of his contract, not run away like regular american 19 yr olds.
Anyway you cut it, a grown man ripped up a child on the internet yesterday and it spread all over the blogs.
No matter what language you speak, that isn't anywhere near an adult thing to do. It's immature and foolish. Not to mention, if the media is on him now, what will it be like when he gets here? What will he learn from Jagr about america? He now knows that B.B.'s is 100% against him. Would anyone of you treat your kids like that? Would you let a stranger talk that way about your hard working, just drafted, Russian professional hockey player kid? You'd protect him as much as possible from anyone like that as long as you could. (That's what Cherepanov's father is thinking right now, and that Dubi at B.B.'s is an unjust, uncalled for no one that talks crap and has connections with the team).
Dubi isn't much better now than tabloid mags. It's a shame. Shame on him. and shame on you if you disagree.
So now jump off the "we hate Cherepanov bandwagon" and stop listening to crazy Bob.
If Dawes scores 50+ points in a season Bob, Dude will eat your shorts.
lol
No way, I am NOT eating bob's shorts.
nuh-uh
you will, he's the boss of the blog. When Bob says jump you jump!
do it do it.
Bob masy be the "Boss,' but the Dude wears my ring...A sweet NAMBLA rambler . and so tasty too.
