No Jagr, no Avery?
No problem for Versus, which will televise eight Rangers games this season, including one of the two games in Prague.
Versus will broadcast the Oct. 5 game against Tampa from Prague at noon ET on Oct. 5, followed by Pittsburgh-Ottawa at 2:30 from Stockholm. I assume MSG will carry the season opener from Prague on Oct. 4. Will check.
The Bruins, Pens, Sabres and Wild also will be featured eight times in the 56 regular-season telecasts; the Flyers, Red Wings and Caps seven times. Think Isles have four games scheduled, including Dec. 29 against the Rangers.
Here's the other six Rangers games: Jan. 5, Pittsburgh; Feb. 9, Devils; Feb. 16, Blues; March 9, Carolina; March 24, Wild, and March 30, Devils.

Roc,
I don't know what it was about the guy but I couldn't stand looking at Tim Kerr. It was either his afro, his 'stache or his gawky way of skating to the front of the net to stand like a human tri-pod...or maybe all three.
I don't see how Jagr makes it on anybody's top ten. He had one AMAZING playoff run and one really good season. Other than that he disappeared for more games than he showed up for, refused to take shoot outs and made a rather poor captain. I loved Nedved but couldn't seriously put him in a top ten. I had really big hopes when they got him as I really liked him in Vancouver, also I met him at a training camp and he was a really nice guy.

I guess no more Hummer Metro Ice Challenge on MSG. Since we have 2 games against NJD and 1 against the Isles. Or whill they be blocked out on Versus?
Valeri Kamensky is my least favorite Ranger of all time.
Holik may have been paid like 9 times his value, but at least he tried.
Kamensky wasn't 'that' bad... when you think bad, think Stephane Quintal.
Kaminsky was like Pavano was/is like to the Yankees. One of thee most disappointing players was by far, "shoot the puck Barry" Beck......a 5 player trade for him and he refused to shoot from the blue line-NEVER!
I'll try again:
I already gave you the best Rangers for the last 60 years in my opinion, here are the worst, not necessarily in order.
1. Don Johns
2. Bruce Driver
3. Tom Poti
4. Ken Hodge
5. Giles Gratton
6. Marek Malik
7. Jim Mikol
8. Jack (Elbows) Stoddard
9. Kevin Stevens
10. D. Duff
Figured out why the previus two posts on this list didn't get through. It was Mr Duff's first name. :)
That bastard Shanahan is determined to stay in New York because his children are enrolled in NY private schools and probably because of his apartment. I hope Rangers ignore this idiot and not sign him even for the league minimum. This is a typical case of somebody using Rangers as his comfy retirement. No more should we let these slackers come here at the end of their careers.
Barry Beck was a good Ranger though.
He didn't live up to the hype, but he was the rock on the blue line of some pretty good Rangers teams from 1980-84 until Flatley pretty much ended things for him.
Even if Beck loved up to all his hype, the Isles still would have knocked us out of the playoffs in 81, 82 and 83.
Anyone remember me?
how can no one mention Greschner?
I mentioned Greschner on the previous thread in my top 10, I believe Lenny did too.
Personally, I believe #4 should be hanging from the rafters.
1. Gartner
2. Bobby Sheehan
3. Messier
4. McEwen
5. Don Maloney
6. Pat Hickey
7. Don Murdoch
8. Leetch
9. Zubov
10. Rutsolainen
And Mike Rogers
Anders Hedberg, Ulf Nillson, Vanbiesbrouk, Richter, JD
Pat Conacher
Rick Middleton, Robbie Fotorek, James Patrick, Steve Vicker and Alexi Kovalev (with whom scored 4 goals vs Vancouver for the '94 Cup)
What about Bobby Granger? Shouldn't he also be hanging from the rafters?
Bobby Granger, think he still posts on Rodent's site.
Yep, I mentioned Greschner. It was easier picking the best players rather than the worst since the "worst" list is much larger.
Anybody remember some of those players I mentioned on the "worst" list? That list goes back to about 1950.
Bobby Granger should def. be up there between Mess and Leetch...ha ha...oh yeah Lenny, I recognized all those names, except Don Johns, stoddard, D. Duff and Malik!!! Malik might as well been a mascot the soft way he plays...speaking of mascots, does anyone here have a video of that mascot that slipped on his family jewles while walking along the boards/'94 Allstar game at the Garden???...that was hysterical....JD, Sam and J.Ronick could hardly compose themselves...LOL
Don Johns was the most putrid defenseman I ever saw. Gordie Howe continually stole the puck off his stick and sent him flying every time.
Jack Elbows Stoddard was the tallest player by far back in the 50s. Thing he was 6'-6" or 6'-7". They called him elbows because his elbows were at the same level as most of the players heads. He couldn't stickhandle, couldn't skate and had no shot. He was a freak on ice.
Jim Mikol was one of the first Indians to play in the NHL (remember Johnny Bucyk). Problem was he was no Bucyk, not even close. If you ever saw the old Cigar Store Indian statue in front of a cigar store, that's about how quick he was.
Oh yeah Duff. He was a left winger that came from Toronto in the Bathgate trade along with Nevin , Seiling and Arnie Brown.
Those three had good Ranger careers. but Duff, who was supposed to be the best of the bunch, turned out to be a dud on Bway. Some players just don't like playing in NY. Red Kelly was traded to the Rangers and refused to report, nullifying that trade.
Anybody figure out Duff's first name is? Rhymes with Rick and begins with D. :)
In an earlier thread, got the following for LI Joe:
"Lenny - put in Richter and Tkachuk for Worsley and Hadfield"
Yeah, it's pretty close there but the Gump was the best goalie the Rangers ever had ON THE FIRST SAVE. I remembered seeing one game with the Gumper where he made 61 saves (that's how bad the Rangers were) and lost 1-0. Another game he got hit in the face by the puck, was bleeding all over the ice, went to the clubhouse got multiple stitches and came back to win the game within 5 minutes.
When he was traded to Montreal, he didn't have to worry about making more than one save at a time with that great Montreal defense.
You could make just as good a case for Richter but my choice was sentimental.
As far as Tkaczuk, he was one of the best two way centers that ever played, loved the guy. You could definitely make a good case for him too. Career was cut short by an eye injury.
Hadfield was a terror when he first came up and was an excellent fighter, learned from his mentor Andy Bathgate. Developed quite a slap shot and did score 50 goals one season. But didn't do himself any favor when he was laughing in the penalty box in a Stanley Cup game the Rangers were losing. That aside, until Graves, he was the best left winger the Rangers ever had.
Think I had both Richter and Tkaczuk on the honorable mention list along with Greschner, Howell, Harvey and Jagr
Bobby Sheehan
ok I have decided. Anisimov (being the youngest and needing to bulk up a bit a learn more physical game) starts in Hartford; Korpikoski(yes we can afford his salary), Moore and Byers start with the Rangers. Betts, Sjostrom and possibly Rissmiller are traded. And I have no idea about Jamtin.
Shana-khan retires after realising he became a loser that he is.
Dawes-Gomez-Naslund
Prucha-Dubinsky-Zherdev
Korpikoski-Drury-Fritsche
Byers-Moore-Voros
Orr
There are rumours going around that sundin is coming to us for only like 2 million. I really don't want sundin on this team but for 2 million only how can u say no to that?
Adam,
If Sundin is willing to come here for only 2 million bucks, we take that and run and let Sundin play on a line with Naslund and Drury.
However, that is an Eklund rumor, it still seems ludicrous that he would take 2 million dollars when the Canucks have that 20 million dollars on the table still.
unless Sundin is desperate to win a Cup before he retires.
Versus is total garbage. I despise that station.
Besides the fact that Versus sucks, the NHL coverage overall in the US is terrible. Both NBC and Versus just love Mike Emerick voice, when in reality, his voice is worst than nails on a chalkboard. I hope someone cuts his throat and destroys his vocal chords.
Have a great day all !
Hey bob,
What about Callahan? Doesn't he fit in the teams plans?
Since none of you can cite to your sources about Sundin, I presume you are basing your comments on Hockeybuzz.com, the Weekly World News of hockey rumor-mongering.
oh damn, I forgot Callahan. I guess then Korpikoski will start in Hartford? Or is Prucha getting traded?
Effgy-THAT was like WAY uncalled for regarding your Mike Emerick comment. Mike not only is very good at what he does, but he's also a cancer survivor, but your way too young (it sounds like) to remember that. Yes, Verses as a station is horrible...they should have contracted w/ESPN after com'n out of a year long strike.
As far as that rumor goes re: Sundin...it makes no sense to turn down 20 Mil and take 2 mil..however, did you ever think that maybe he can make up that $ in endorsments in the Big City?...and did you ever think that just maybe he's always wanted to play for the Rangers?...truth is-He always wanted to play for us, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him here before the season started...and yes, I do see Prucha being traded.
Rich it doesn't make any sense to you because you are not a millionare. He wants to win a cup or at least go to the cup finals. More teams to climb over in the West then in the East. Plus Naslund and Hank are here. Sundin will be a Ranger!
I know Eklund has no credibility but I just though it may have some truth to it cause he has been consistent with him going to the Rangers for atleast a month now he has to be getting it from some where. I could careless if he came here but I just have a feeling that he will sign for a very little amount. If he does sign how about this
Sundin Dubinsky Naslund
Zherdev Gomez Sjostrom Damn this line would be fast as hell
Dawes Drury Callahan A lot of chemistry last year
Voros Fritshe Rissmiller
These are some pretty nasty lines if you ask me.
Match up pretty well with the other teams in the east
Rich, sorry you took offense, but I still with the guy would lose his vocal chords. I cant stand that guys voice, yet the NHL throws his disgusting voice down our throats. Its not just his voice, but the way he calls a game. He makes the NHL seem like a mickey mouse version of itself.
Effgy...I don't give a rat's a** if you don't like the guy, that's your right and privilege to voice your opinion-BUT- to take a shot at someones health???? is completely immature and uncalled for. As far as I'm concerned, you owe this blog an apology for your comments. This is about "sport", and sport only!!!!!!!
I just can't stand the coverage on Versus, It's annoying. I'd rather watch the game on MSG any day of the week.
