zipay, you hearing any rumors the rangers have a plan on what to do with the surplus of players? im hoping they make a package with prucha, prospect, pick for a 2nd line winger...maybe a type of power forward, not sure who they would go after tho

you are going to be let down then Richie, haven't you heard the news, We're growing our own top line scoring wingers.
Dawes, Callahan, Prucha are at the top of the list.

I think there is a reason that he hasn't signed with someone already and the only two really good reasons I can come up with are

#1. He is leaning towards retiring

#2. He wants to be a Ranger but needs the team to clear cap room.

Otherwise why wouldn't he have already signed with his familiar old team or take the money from Vancouver? Or if he wants a contender with a little less $$ then he could easily choose Montreal.

Also, I really wish writers would stop referring to this situation as Sundin "holding teams hostage". Sundin is a Free Agent and therefor can do whatever he wants, whenever he wants. Holding a team hostage is signing a contract and then holding out of camp for more $$. Or maybe what Favre is doing to the Packers by retiring and then demanding that they unretire him. Sundin's situation is completely different, he owes nobody any kind of decision except himself and his family.

Phil, Those 3 just named aren't 1st line scores and most likely never will.

"Richie, We are used to Yankees fans coming on here and saying they want to trade a bench player and a prospect for someone elses star, here, its a salary cap sport, and teams are not stupid enough to get fleeced by us. Please take your mental illness elsewhere."

Last time i checked we have some very good prospects down in the farm system...prucha is not needed here because we have dawes who is same in size and style of play. Other teams in the nhl would like to have prucha playing on their 2nd or 3rd line just like how we use dawes on r 2nd or 3rd line. Your a big tough guy over the keyboard telling me take my mental illness elsewhere, wish i got to meet an ass hole like you in person.

Many would agree trading Prucha, one of r top prospects and a 2nd rounder for a 2nd line winger power type of forward would be a very fair trade.

Camallieri is a Flame... What are you blabbering about?

I know there are a lot of NYR fans who just go ape when you talk about signing a guy like Sundin and taking a spot away from a 'kid'. Seriously, there are so many kids in the lineup already... mainly due to how well the management/coaches have properly brought them along. If this team signs Sundin... all I can say is "watch out!". He is an elite player that scores points like they are going out of style. No worries about line combos or wondering who he can play with and he can't play with like last year (with Jagr). He plays well with anyone.

You also know that the team is not going to sign him long term and Sather has already set the situation up so that this team can have a makeover after the season anyway. Pretty much every supporting player and the majority of the 'kids' will be RFAs/UFAs. If it doesn't work, rip it up and start over again. Signing him only brings in more money and does not impede the progress of the organization.

It will be a longshot, but I hope Sather does every he can to reel Sundin in.

Wouldn't be completely bad if he became a Ranger... while most superstars stats fall when they get older, his have gotten better since the lockout, and he hasn't had less than 72 points besides his rookie year.

Imagine what he could do on a team that doesn't suck?

Read it here... http://www.nyhockeyrivalry.com

The problem with Sundin is he is even older and even less physical than Jagr.

#3...Sundin could also be holding out for more $ from vancouver or anyone else....btw, stop dreaming about Sundin com'n to our NYR, we need a hard hitting crease clearing D'man, and sad to say, Sundin just isn't gonna do this. I have said a # of times we need this...who is gonna clear the crease on a consistent basis? I don't think we have anyone right now. Plus, I would rather have Sather set the team up for an offer to Zetterburg next year...so let Sundin go elsewhere-like Vancouver \_ _ _/

Zetterburg? WTF? Are you dreaming out load again. Det will never let him go. They'll offer him the franchise and a life time supply of pu**y from the wifes of every single Det Red Wings employee before they let him go UFA.

How many points did Dawes score in his rookie season? What was his average TOI?

careful, that's bait.

Bryan- in order to be funny it helps to have facts. L.A. traded Camillarri to Calgary at the Draft in June

Rangers are after Sundin?

I'll freakin go drive him to MSG!!!!!

I think the rangers are a much smaller team team this season and reduced in skill now that Jagr is gone. With Philly, Isles and Jersey all having guys that can throw a hit I think they are gonna have issues. Especially with Naslund who isn't used to good ols Atlantic division/ Patrick Division hockey.

Bring in Sundin into this division and that's just another scratch.

I don't doubt that the Ranger were going to have to cut ties with Jagr at som point. This was just waaay to premature. They should have picked up his option. He's a guy where you can say for sure can play in this division and handle the hostility.

Jagr can't even handle shootouts. Such selfish lazy players don't belong in NHL.

caesar - the Rangers are rebuilding. they were not a cup contender with jagr and company and are at least 2 years away from being a contender now. sometimes you have to go down to go up and that is what they are trying to do

Zetterburg can be had if he choose to test the market next year..look, if we were able to get Mark Messier, anything can happen........ And NOW you all know why I keep saying we need a hard hitting D man...if we had cap room, sure I'd go after Sundin, but in reality, we don't, so we need to go after the one thing we don't have. I'm not really gonna miss Jagr (yes, in the playoffs I will), the only player I'll miss is Avery because he brought it every night-Jagr didn't!!!

Sundin and Naslund together would be a pretty serious combination. I threw up some line combinations on both The Hockey News and Pucks on Broadway, but regardless, it would make for a very deep offensive force. My guess is that Betts and Prucha are probably both gone.

if we add Frodo Frolov and Sundin we would probably be a very soft team. I rather go after Dustin Brown or O'Sullivan.

were already a soft team..we replaced hollweg with vorros but lost avery, struds, shanny

Shanahan was soft. The team will be faster, grittier and more energetic/dynamic than last year.

Jagr is not even worthy of the NHL and Shanahan is soft? So they are both crap in your opinion? WOW.

ugh.. they will regret losing the griittiness and ability of avery.. . rebuilding is fine just be sure that boumeester is part of it (shld goit him this y as a RFA) - just get him next year as an UFA - the Redden contract feels like we just signed Allan Houston

Vancouver Rocks!!! Now with bernier and demitra and maybe/hopefully sundin they will be unstoppable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
