Tim Russert and Don Imus are pals again

tim%2520russert-thumb.bmpI haven't been listening to Imus much since he returned, but a reader tipped me off to Tim Russert's appearance this morning.

Listening to Russert and Imus pick up where they left off before April 4 was another example of what I learned long ago in the media business:

Now matter how mad reporters and sources - or talk show hosts and interview subjects - get at one another, they invariably rush back into a cozy embrace the moment it benefits their symbiotic purposes.

The entire business is based on mutual exploitation. As are many businesses. But ours more than most.

Unbelievable. Big Tim must have made some donation to the ranch. I don't care how much Imus' show needs political correspondents, doesn't he have any guts?

The best rant ever from Russo was in the post-Imus firing day when he ranted about Russert's lack of loyalty and that he regretted having Russert on to talk about that "stupid book about his dopey father".

Imus said he was wiping the slate clean and would hold no grudge.

The interview this morning went as well as expected. But the usual banter was not there. I have to replay it to see how it started.

Even Brokaw sent him and email on his Black Berry. So I am assuming they all want in to one of the best interviewers on local and National radio Imus.

Thanks Neil.

Russert is a total fraud.

"Meet the Press" should be called "Meet the Marshmallow."

Russert throws so many soft-ball questions it's amazing. He's more
like James Lipton than Cronkite.

i didn't hear tim on the show, but oh man, how could imus let him back on the air? is the i-man so desperate for guests - that he has tim on the show? of course the rapport wasn't there. imus clearly doesn't trust the man, but a guest is a guest is a guest.

Media people and pols are drawn to Imus like flies are attracted to ****.

Ray,
You read my mind about Russert.

He was so unbearable when he did that book tour. It really was not about Big Russ and him. It was about Him and His Giant Ego. It seemed to every place he went to plug his book he talked about that lame, cliched Scott Norwood story and boy was everywhere promoting that book.

tim gave "tha ranch"$50,000 when imus sold his book.
