When I began on the St. John's basketball beat in 1990-91, it was assumed the team then known as the Redmen would be in the NCAA Tournament pretty much every year.
So when they reached the Elite Eight in my first season, I figured it was no big deal and they'd have another shot the following spring.
Twenty victories was pretty much a given under Lou Carnesecca, who retired after 1991-92.
It appears things have changed a bit since those days.

i think you are of your beat .AGAIN
Jarvis was a wrecking ball, what a miserable useless SOB.
St. Johns better thank their lucky stars that the Knicks are so awful and inept or the main story would be them and for a while it was during the worst part of the Jarvis years. In retrospect, they should have gone hard after Bobby Gonzalez.
