'Mike'd Up' attracts Sunday viewers with late bedtimes
One more thing about Mike Francesa before I get on with my blogging life . . . Mike smartly said on the air Monday that no one would write about the high ratings for his Sunday night TV show, knowing I'd probably take the bait just to prove him wrong.
Sure enough, here goes:
This past weekend's show, boosted by a highly rated football game on Ch. 4 and by people switching over from the Yankee Stadium finale, attracted 2.6 percent of the key men ages 25-54 demographic, more than double the second-highest-rated show in the market from midnight to 12:30, which was "Sex and the City" on Ch. 11.
"Mike'd Up" actually got better numbers from midnight to 12:15 a.m. than the local news had gotten in the previous quarter hour, an unusual spike for that hour.
The show also was No. 1 among men ages 18-49, men ages 18-34 and all people ages 25-54.
After three weeks, the show is up compared to this time last season by 38 percent among men ages 25-54, 36 percent among all people 25-54 and 20 percent in total viewership.
When I was a young and people asked me what I wanted to do when I grew up, I always would stand up straight, smile and say this: Share with the world the nuances of demographic breakdowns for local, late-night sports update shows.
Now look at me. Is this a great country or what?

And to look at it the other way. 97.4% of the key men's demographic ages 25-54 didn't bother wasting their time watching "Miked Up." They were either watching porn, out in bars enjoying themselves or went straight to bed.
