David Cone stays up late; Ken Singleton gets up early

YES' "CenterStage" episode featuring the always interesting Paul Simon debuts after Wednesday night's Yankees postgame show. Clips available here.

Speaking of YES, there was an amusing exchange during Monday's game between Ken Singleton and David Cone, in which Cone hints at an eventful reunion with David Wells, who was in town Sunday to analyze the game for TBS.

Cone: "Well, Singy, I want to thank you for coming up here tonight. My buddy Paul O'Neill was on a pitch count and couldn't make it to Monday night on the wrap-around series."

Singleton: "A game count?"

Cone: "Yeah, I thought I saw him in that scene set flying over that bridge."

Singleton: "On his way back to Cincinnati."

Cone: "Yeah, Teterboro is over there somewhere."

Singleton: "Well, Michael [Kay] kind of deserted you, too. I heard you guys talking about me yesterday."

Cone: "Well, glad to have you here, Singy."

Singleton: "Thank you, I appreciate it. Got up at 5:30 in the morning to join you."

Cone: "Nice, very nice . . . You got up at 5:30 to come here, Singy?"

Singleton: "Well, I took the train up [from the Baltimore area]. I don't live next to the train station."

Cone: "Did you see the sun come up?"

Singleton: "Actually, I did."

Cone: "So did me and Boomer."

Singleton, laughing: "A sleepy David Cone and an equally sleepy Ken Singleton. Yankees lead it, 6-3. We'll be right back."
