Erin Andrews hit by foul ball; panic at Newsday

ESPN reporter Erin Andrews was struck in the chin by a foul ball at a Mets-Dodgers game at Citi Field on Wednesday night -- news that sent a mini-panic through the Newsday office moments ago.
When the news was announced by a deputy editor, fellow male staffers scurried to the Internet to learn the fate of the pulchritudinous sideline reporter. (One worried staffer asked, "Was it in the face???")
Fortunately, it looks like Erin will be OK.
As if the Mets couldn't be any more disliked than they are right now, it was journeyman infielder Alex Cora who hit the foul liner that struck Andrews in the fourth inning.
-- Mike Casey (filling in for the vacationing Neil Best)
P.S. Neil, if you're reading this, don't worry. Erin is safe and so is your blog traffic.

How do you identifiy a TELEVISION person as a REPORTER???
Give the Fourth Estate a break please.
I will gladly volunteer to nurse her back to health.
Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that this is the FIRST Erin Andrews sighting (snapshot) on this blog in 2009.
God Bless Mike Casey and Alex Cora for making this day possible.
Deadspin has exact details of Chris "Mad Dog" Russo's rant on the air on Sirius XM on Thursday including audio.
http://deadspin.com/5312470/mad-dog-goes-rabid-needs-to-be-put-down-second-update
Dog got on his entire calling them "Horse #@*%", and he fired his buddy, Steve Torre live on the air. He also made this quote saying: "I put together a staff that is incompetent. I have put together a group of young talk-show hosts who I thought were going to be little Mad Dogs, and they're little Bow-Wows instead. We don't have any talent. We are the Washington Nationals. Check that: we are the Washington Generals." Dog probably still wishes that he was still at WFAN working with Francesa.
Besty, you come out of hiding to cater to the mouth-breathing machismo of the blogosphere's obsession instead of a classic Dog breakdown? Bad job, bad job.
On their last show Mike compared him and Dog to the Beatles.
They are the Beatles now - the breakup Beatles. Dog's rant
is the equivalent to McCartney's Ram. Mike's show everyday
is like John's lost weekend in LA with Mae Pang.
When is Best back from vacation? We need some investigative reporting!
Neil, Russo has breakdown on sirius radio and you aren't here. We need you
Did Neil ever say how long his 'summer hiatus' would last? He's letting us down by being AWOL on the Russo story.
Still not back?? Is Neil on vacation with Francesa? If that's the case we won't be hearing from him again until September.
ESPN will hire Don Ohlmeyer as their new ombudsman. Richard Deitsch of SI broke the story on his twitter page. But give Deadspin credit because they were the first to know that Ohlmeyer was a candidate for the job.
Мне кажется я где то видел уже этот материал
Wow, that must have hurt. It sucks to be hit with a foul ball. I remember being hit by one of those ones in the face. Not a very pleasant experience! Nice story btw. I see it's picking up now that Erin has gotten more popular with the recent scandals... lol
