Friday comment contest winner
This week's winner is Scott E for his comment on my post regarding the sale of Giants Stadium seats at $499 per pair:
"Rather than buy a PSL at the new stadium, can I buy a pair of old seats and take them with me to the new place? They'll perform the same job at a fraction of the cost."
Excellent idea!
Here is another way to look at it: For the price of a $20,000 PSL plus the $700 game ticket to the Giants' first preseason game of 2010, you could buy 84 seats from the old stadium, set them up in your back yard and invite 83 friends over to watch the third-stringers play on TV on an early August evening.

There seems to be a fairly severe case of Calendar Creep going on here. Let me suggest that you rename the post for wittyest comment to "Comment of the Week", which will provide you a more flexible schedule to bestow the award. (Wouldn't want to give MF more to stalk you about.)
But congrats to Scott E: great point you make.
You NY'ers should consider yourself lucky with PSLs. You got a bargain. I just read today that if you want a nice courtside seat in the renovated Pauley Pavillion at UCLA you must first deliver a $500,000 doantion to the foundation and then a $17,000/seat yearly payment to them as well. I am not sure if that even pays for the seat's ticket.
It happens every week Charlie -- I come into the office, log on to my computer, and click my "Watchdog" bookmark. When I see a post titled "Friday Comment Contest Winner", I'm excited that the work week is over, but my excitement turns to disappointment (sometimes resentment) when I realize its only Wednesday. At least today I had a smile on my face knowing that I finally won the Comment Contest.
Back when there was a long, controversial post about Newsday charging for online content (I think it was a Thursday), I commented on the value of local journalism. Neil responded "Scott, if I hadn't already awarded a Friday Comment Contest Winner, I'd give it to you". I was robbed.
But back to this week's comment, I'm honored and humbled. Thank you Jeff, in the original post, for the nomination.
