The truth on sports (or at least he thinks so)

Missouri Loves Company

Despite my suggestion to the contrary, the Missouri Division of Tourism insists that this landmark is NOT actually half of a "W", buried upside-down.

While never having spent a great amount of time there, I've been told that St. Louis is a really good sports town.  It makes logical sense to me being that it isn't a very transient city, but, rather, inhabited by generations of locals. It also doesn't hurt that the natives are well known to enjoy the taste of beer (a trait I've discovered is consistent with other great sports towns like Chicago and Philadelphia).

And after the past few days, any sports fans in St. Louis (and throughout Missouri) should be ready for more than just a few cold ones.

cards-fan.jpgThe St. Louis Cardinals have been swept in the NLDS by the Los Angeles Dodgers, 3 games to 0.  The St. Louis Rams are 0-5 and their losing streak (15) is most in franchise history and is the longest current one in the National Football League.  They've allowed at least 28 points in 4 of their last 5 games, been shutout in 3 of those 5, haven't scored a touchdown in the past 10 quarters (or, a rushing touchdown at all in 2009) and their total net points (-112) is worst in the league.

kyle-boller-rams.jpgThe "Gateway to the West" isn't going to be confused as the "Gateway to the Best" for any Division I college football teams they might be cheering either.  After a 4-0 start, Missouri played a miserable game (in even worse weather) last Thursday night when they surrendered 27 fourth quarter points to the Cornhuskers and lost to Nebraska, 27-12.  Missouri State fell to South Dakota State, 24-17, on Saturday.

For the sports fans in Saint Louis, perhaps it's true that "Misery loves company" (or, in this case, "Missouri loves company" as well) since the neighboring Kansas City Chiefs are also 0-5 so far this season.

What about the Royals?

kc-royals-error.jpgDo we even need to go there?

Great headline Zakk! I pull for the Cards and was very dissapointed by the 3 and out blow. Lots of finger pointing now with only themselves to blame. There's always next year!
