Naomi Campbell: The traveler's hero
![]()
I was a little preoccupied last week, so didn't have time to comment on the reported banning of Naomi Campbell from all future British Airways flights.
You may recall that the supermodel allegedly spit at a police officer after one of her bags failed to make it onto her plane at Heathrow's new terminal 5.
Of course, nobody takes the side of a spitting supermodel.
I don't condone spitting (except in baseball) but aren't we ALL fed up with the treatment we get when we travel these days? But who among us has had the courage to stand up and show the world that something's not right? Naomi Campbell - that's who!
Do you think it's a coincidence that one week after her blow-up American Airlines cancelled thousands of flights? Yes, it was a huge inconvenience, but consider how much safer flying is today. I think we have Naomi to thank for that.
So let's try to show a little more understanding the next time an incredibly rich, beautiful, pampered, self-centered person tries to do what she can for the little guy.

Comments
We are all frustrated by the inconvenience of air travel these days, but there are many ways of complaining about it. Naomi Campbell did not stand for her rights, she just abused her notoriety. I think, she believes just because she is famous and beautiful she can get away with everything and anything. Respect people is just not part of her virtues.

Do you live and write under a rock. Naomi is a rude arrogant spoiled individual. Along with being banned from flying she should be banned from modeling. She is a disgrace and embarrassement to her profession.

Mary, I think you missed Tom's sarcasm. Although - this is the SunSentinel, with "Transformative Change" - that may not be sarcasm, but we should give him the benefit of doubt.

She needed to be taken to the ground, arrested and held at leeast over night in jail. TSA, not the police are the reason for those airport problems. Since she is a repeat offender, jail time is in order. But because there are two sets of laws, she will get more press time.

Tom - you should also point out hwo well TErminal 5 at Heathrow has performed - they cancelled flights becasue bags did not make it on planes, they cancleed passengers tickets who were checking luggage - Rube Golberg designed Heathrow Terminal 5 it seems. Teh people in Denver fel so much better now.

Surely you can't be serious. If you're aiming for sarcasm (as one commenter purports) -- might I suggest recalibrating your scope?
She is a nuisance and proved as much to every other traveler inconvenienced by her tirade.
On a 'blogger's note' -- this was so week-and-a-half ago ... was there nothing else that interested you -- really? But then, Naomi's like Paris or Britney -- easy page views ... *sigh ...

NAOMI IS A REAL WITCH, I BET IF YOU PUT HER WITH SOME REAL SISTERS, THEY WOULD WHIP HER BEHIND. WHO DOES SHE THINK SHE IS BY HITTING AND SPITTING ON PEOPLE, THE PEOPLE WHO RAISED HER MUST HAVE LEFT OUT THE LESSON OF RESPECT AND KINDNESS. I WOULD NEVER SUPPORT ANYTHINGS THAT SHE DO. SHE GIVES BLACKS A BAD NAME, RIGHT ALONG WITH THE THUGS, DRUGDEALERS, AND ROBBERS,

I'll remember to contact her when I need someone to be run over. Obviously she seems to be a natural in that department. I'll tell her they lost her luggage again.

Congratulations to Jeff for seeing in my words on his screen the tongue in my cheek. Sarcasm often doesn't come across in print but - at the risk of appearing crazed and annoying hundreds - I will occasionally resort to it. For the record, I consider Ms. Campbell to be one of the most spoiled of a pretty pampered bunch.
