Last chance to see the QE2

The QE2, on farewell tour, leaves Sydney on Feb. 25

Having debuted in 1969, she is the last of the ocean liners with elegant lines. And, sadly, she's headed to Dubai to become a floating hotel.
She's scheduled to arrive at 7 am and depart at 5 pm. (Though I know from experience that the Cunard ships are notoriously late leavers.) A good place to wait for her departure is the Point of the Americas beach. You can stand on the jetty and shout "Bon voyage!" just like Murray in A Thousand Clowns.

Sailed on QE2 during last week in July - first week in August 1970 from London/LeHarve to New York.I was on this crossing with my parents as it was a college graduation present.
Very rough crossing, 90% of both crew and passangers were sea sick. First class dining room only set/used 2 tables. All activites cancelled, pools drained,
ropes were stretched throughout the corridors, shops closed. My late father and I did not get sea sick, but my mother she was sick.
During the good days we became friendly with the head baker and he said that this was the roughest crossing he had ever experienced.
As there was nothing to do, I tried to walk all over the ship, but was constantly being thrown side to side and up and down.
QE2 had stablizers, but I guess Mother Nature was a little too strong and the QE2 just bounced along in the mid-Atlantic like a toy in a bathtub.
Took me almost a week to get my "land legs" back but was never sea sick.
Quite an interesting experience. One that I will never forget.
